Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

What breeds are you interested in? I could help you find the counterpart of that breed that will make it all even out. default smiley :p

It's not KWPN crosses I hate (or the breed itself, really), just the fact that they've spread through Howrse like a common cold, lol. You can't find anything that isn't bred to a KWPN, and not to mention the fact that people are convinced KWPNs are good dressage compers, which they're not (don't get me started on this one).

I enjoy my KWPN crosses when I do them, but I try to stay away from them, just because I like to have a little variety in my crosses.

Although it would be easier to breed from mares I have already BLUPed. I have paints, thoroughbreds, lusitanos, KWPN, Friesian

What in the world... really? I never even tried to put one in because their skills are not right /at all/. That's true though, they're in almost every cross, even if it's not a jumper. And they're so common, you can always find high GP kwpns in public coverings, it's kind of off-putting.

Tennessee Walker x Hanoverian
Knab x Mawari
Nokota x Mustang
(knab&nokota and mawari&mustang are interchangeable since they have the same skill sets)
Brumby x Lusitano

There's countless more, are you interested in any of these or do you want me to list more?
I'm kind of interested in mustang x nokota and Newfoundland x Friesian. But can you message me a list of balanced combos?

I think he's the closest I've came to an all rounder, if you're interested in 4 ways. If you replaced the GV with Lusitano, it would probably balance the skills a little more.
By balanced, I mean all the skills are relatively the same.

Exactly. But people think that just because they have high dressage, they can win dressage comps, usually rosettes...and that just kills the rosette, and makes people like me very unhappy. default smiley (lol) Which is why I have reserved my dressage comp for Lusis indefinitely, or at least until a better dressage breed comes along.

I was the first to do a 300 skill cross - took a lot of guess work as well as trial and error to do it.

I would like to do it again, just need the time and patience, plus it would be a bigger number too.

Hey all,

Does anyone have great paint crossbreeds?
I like Standie x paint, but ypu could try hackney or even brumby x paint.
Im gonna add some brumby to my standie x paint next.

They should add either Danish Warmblood, Oldenburg, or Westphalian since those are popular Olympic dressage breeds default smiley xd

Oldenburg is on the French server. Surprise surprise trot is their worst skill default smiley (lol)
But don't forget the Arabs here are different from the Arabs there, so maybe their skill set will be the same?

Either way, it seems like Howrse is avoiding dressage breeds. There are too many Cross Country breeds. Too. Many.

I agree. default smiley (lol) I think they could use a western comp refresher too.

In the process of trying to create a cross suitable for show jumping (or whatever it is) for the upcoming promo...I have a good combo but I'm just trying to figure out how to get gallop slightly higher.

Ooh, think I got my cross! Jump is slightly lower than speed but it's okay, I can beach the difference. Off to arrange coverings!

True. It's just so amusing (and frustrating) how almost every real world dressage breed has poor trot on Howrse. Maybe admins just really hate dressage default smiley :p
Anyone know of a good Arabian cross that Will keep it's high Stamina, Dressage, and Jump, but improve speed?

Does anyone know if the walker team does above GP coverings or breedings for crosses?

Thanks! I might give that a try next! I tested a Thoroughbred first, and now I am trying out an Akel-teke.
