Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

BLUP means best linear unbiased prediction which in other words means the horse has become the best it could be. On Howrse this doesn't mean it can't gain more skill it just means the horse has it's 3 best skills Bolded(as good as they can get through rides, training, and comps) has 20 wins in comps and is 10 years old

I'm being ignored here, cuz this is the THIRD time I've posted on this guy...

OneTimeWinner

Any suggestions on what to do to finish BLUPing him?
Top 3 skills bars are done and all of his long trot rides and have gotten what skills I can from comps... still need 19 wins in comps though...

@foxia you only need 17 wins and I'd try to give you advice, btu the stallion I'm working on now is the first howrse I've BLUPped in months so I don't think I'd be the best to give advice.

Well, he's won't win the stinking comps no matter how low the skill level is... I've entered him in tons of comps and he almost always get 2nd...

I don't know what to tell you. I always check who else is in the comp when I enter before I decide to enter it in the comp. I like to try and keep the odds of him winning fairly high and I try not to often enter in comps with other horses being BLUPped if they have a lot lower gp than me.

well I would suggest using a filler horse and maybe enter trot comps to see if you can get your wins that way

You're welcome foxia. Right now I'm so happy because I entered Dryad's Warrior in 4 comps last aging (4 years 1 month old) and he won 1st in all 4. He now has only 6 wins left.

foxia - Your horses is a pure horse and this forum is for crossbreeds but I usually put my pure Mars in gallop and trot as well as jump and crosscountry. You should probably try trot and gallop for a bit though.
Oh, I didn't even notice the horse was pure when I glanced over it.....

I'm on a roll with Dryad's Warrior. He's nearly got 20 wins right now and all the comps he's entered in haven't finished yet either and he's only 4 years 3 months. I never thought he'd be as good as he is.

hehe I've been cheating today with my wins. haven't felt like waiting forever for them so I logged into my friends account and used her horses as fillers.

so instead of having my blup horse and 1 filler, I've been having my blup horse and 3 fillers. Been really nice so I can get these horses done.

Well, I plan on using him to cross breed. Got a bunch of mares I gotta BLUP also so I can cover them with him... running out of aging points...

Here are just three of my newest additions:

GV/IH/Arab

Barb/TB

Mar/Canadian

I have a billion more that I need to work on. I am thinking about attempting to skill the GV/IH/Arab but I need 10 more POC to do it fully.
Yep, my PB Lusi mare is almost BLUPed and I want to cross my Lusi and Mar to see what I get...

i mostly look at the genetic potential and cross breed the horses based on that. is this a good way or are there better ways of cross breeding good horses?

*Very* happy with this little foal -- very happy *indeed*! My sincerest thanks to Xellossnut for this incredible little cross…

Looming Storm DWS

50% Holsteiner, 25% PSH, 25% Friesian. While I would love a little more GP, I still like him quite a bit. Should be a very interesting foal to bring up.
Dryad's Warrior, my Lusi/Arab male, now has 20 wins at only 4 years 4 months. Here is the link, I think I'm done with him for the day
