Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Owwie- sure, of course, I was just confused why you would bother to really skill a low GP horse. default smiley xd

G53- Nice!

So here's my next comp boy.

Raise Your Weapons

This is Narcissistic Cannibal's brother and since Cannibal did so well in comps, I figured skilling his twin would be good for me for the next promo that involves winning comps. lol. I'm not Nyxing or anything cause I dont plan on fully training, just training enough so he wins if you know what I mean.

Foals available from her for a cheap price if anyone is interested. Any ides for breeds to mix with her? Looking for dressage skills.
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:23:52
SledDog: I would say a Nokota/Lusitano or even Irish/Lusitano.
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:31:41
shi-yes, I was considering Nokota/ Lusi or Nokota/Fri....do you know of any nice studs mixed like that?

SledDog: I dont myself, all I have is an Aussie/Nokots who is horribly outdated on the Nokota side. But if you have time to BLUP with the items, the top Nokota team gives out coverings from their better studs for crossbreeding purposes.
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:35:20
shi- hm....maybe worth a try, as I have a few MA and CT
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:36:16
Seld: From personal experience they are very easy to train too.
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:38:35
I breed a gyspy Vanner with a friesan.
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:39:12
I got a nice foal from Colt today(she's a bolted female, I'm too lazy to rename her Filly) with around 250 IBS, 87 stars and 1440 GP.
She'll probably reach 400 dressage at leastdefault smiley ;)
I'm thinking about a Friesian/Irish Hunter SledDog default smiley ;)

I pmed the top Nokota breeder on a covering. Crossing fingers for good results!

shi- yep, I BLUPed a few foundies and offered coverings when they first came out, they are very nice and easy to train and skill.

Owwie- already has Fri in the mare, and IH make me nervous, because I have found they are difficult for me to train. I seem to have the most trouble with IH, GV's, and pure Lusi's.
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:49:28
Just got a message back, and I am going to get a covering from the top stud that will soon be done being BLUPed! (goes on a rampage of happiness default smiley xd)
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:49:34
Hmm, then maybe Lusi/Paint/Nokota? Those are a good combodefault smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:51:27
Sled: I own what used to be the top Nokota on the game. He still holds the number one spot for Nokota Jump too. He was a breeze to train. And I know what you mean. Irish Hunters, GV's and PSH are the worst for me to train, thats why I like them being recessive in a cross, or in other words, the mother.
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:54:11
shi- yep, I have so much trouble with some breeds, and others are nice and easy. Now, if I breed a 50/50 cross to a pure nokota, will it still come out to be the fathers breed, or is it random?
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:54:39
I'm looking for a good breeding partener
Pm with offers.
By Retired breeder, 21st March 2012 23:56:55
99% will be the fathers breed
1% that it will be mothers breed

Crosses have more chance of being mothers breed if breeds are at the same level
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 00:00:01
Owwie- are you sure? Seems odd to split it that way. I know that if you breed

A breed (mare)

to

B breed (stud)

That the foal will be B breed all of the time. I have bred crosses enough to know that.

Im asking if you breed

A/B (cross with 50% of each breed mare)

to

C (pure stud of a different breed)

what the outcome will be, either C (which I think) or 30% chance each for A, B, and C
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 00:04:45
No, it will definitely be C
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 00:05:24
Sled- have you ever heard of the series "The Black Stallion?"
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 00:05:27
It will end up as a 50% 25% 25% cross, with the 50% being the pure's breed.
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 00:08:28
A bit confusing..
Usually the foal is the breed of the father because the offspring usually inherits more of the father rather than the mother.
Not all crosses fit the requirements to get they're mother's breed, the breeds you're crossing with has to be equal, EX:
A.Pure Arab + Pure Lusi = 50/50 foal(meaning the foal has a larger chance of being his mother's breed)
B.50/50+other 50/50 breed(Arab/Lusi+ Paint/Friesian)= equal(I can't really do math well)
So same result as EX A.default smiley :)
