Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

What will he be good at?
By Retired breeder, 9th June 2010 03:46:46
With those stats, I'd say just about anything, lol.

If you want easy first-place wins, toss the kid into Standardbred-only trot comps - since his trot will be lower than that of purebreds, he'll have a better chance of being up against lower-skilled horses (purebreds will have a proportionately higher trot, so horses with a trot as low as yours will likely have lower skills overall).

I cross breed toodefault smiley :)default smiley :-))
This guy has really made me proud. I held off a bit too long on his comps, so he didn't do as well as he might have if I'd started him earlier, but his GP is great for a six-skiller and he hasn't come even *close* to maxing out his skills yet!

Next project - reinventing the Paint six-skillers! My present herd is a bit old, averaging about 708 GP, but I am going to refresh the bloodlines and see what I can produce.

By Retired breeder, 9th June 2010 16:48:52
alise>> i would cross mustangs and irish hunters, they have better dressage than arabians *if* you want high dressage...also thoroughbreds in place of mustangs is good also as thoroughbreds just need a little boost in dressage to have all three skills good

If a 50% Brumby 25% TB and Paint mare was crossed with a purebred TB or Paint stallion would the offspring still be a Brumby? I'm pretty sure it would be. I'm working on getting some high starred Brumby crosses and am trying to figure out what to breed my mare with.
By Retired breeder, 9th June 2010 23:50:46
I have seen a 50/25/25 Brumby like that offering coverings Thorne, he was 11* too.

Y.E.S. Laya , that foal Is good ! Well, i guess it depends on what your breeding for.
By Retired breeder, 10th June 2010 00:36:56
Well, I just wanted a high-starred arabian, and my best bet was a crossbred. I was just curious about how good it was as a crossbred.
By Retired breeder, 10th June 2010 00:37:22
How much do you think it's worth?
