Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

How would you work out the amount of GP and stars the foal would get? GeekGirl1984 had a great post...is that to work out the IBS or the total skill after bolding that skill? It would be very helpful if someone would explain it quickly to me.
Thanks

Oooops. Here he is default smiley (lol)
GeekGirl, you've hit upon the most crucial element of calculating skills -

Parent A skill + Parent B Skill, divided by 2

... with a "mystery variance" dependent upon total GP. The higher the GP is, unfortunately, the more likely it is that your variance will be negative (I have seen it up to 4% but it may go even higher). So it's easy to make good GP gains when you're starting out, but gets exponentially more difficult as you reach Elite status with any given breed.

It used to be that the more dominant skills actually went up a wee bit more than the others, but that has since been ironed out so that all skills essentially go up or down equally.

DressageGirly-I like him. I wanted to buy/breed a cross like that but with arab showing, either way it will be a nice XC horse.

in this pair, both are crosses. . . .one is a 5 way with Paint being 37.5% and the rest are random. The mare is 50/50. BUT both of them have only skills in 3 areas, and that is what I was after. I don't want something with one or two stars in other areas, and both of them, are 1.Paints, 2. 16 stars equally divided in only 3 areas, speed, dressage and gallop. So i was hoping I was putting the best of a cross to the best of a cross. . . . .default smiley *-)

hOrsElUvEr95, in my "Other Horses" today I found an Irish X Arab that is 19 stars in only Dressage and Stamina with only a few stars in Jumping & Gallop, no stars in other areas.

can't really tell right now kitsune45. i have 2 purebred irish hunters. they have just about the same amount of skills. the odd thing is though, one is better at show jumping and the other is better at cross country. when your foal gets older just put him in a few of each comp and see how he places. don't forget to try putting him in comps reserved for his breed and for all horses. good luck!

I've been thinking of cross breeding and getting a good comp horse? what crosses do you find works best for each comp?
I just did a little experiment with my 6 skiller QH and the result was a 6 skiller colt with at least 2* in each skill default smiley :-))default smiley :-))default smiley :-)) Possibly the first double* 6 skiller QH? Shame I didn't have tears to use default smiley *-)

Is mine ok i just need to know what comps he will be good at so i can tranine him
I unfortunately have never crossbred a horse before, at least not since I seriously began to breed. I used to crossbreed at the beginning of my game, some Welsh Quarter Horse crosses. I bred a couple of 1*.

This topic has inspired me to! I have bought a Thoroughbred mare with stars in speed and gallop, and I am going to be breeding horses with stars in all skills now. I have made my own affix and breeding farm. The line is called "≈Shøø†ing S†år Çrøssbre∂s". Please feel free to message me with any tips on crossbreeding!

I just bred a foal from an Irish Hunter stallion and Thoroughbred mare!

Stamina-1 star
Dressage-3 stars
Gallop-3 stars

I really like the way she turned out! I am going to now get a Hanoverian to add some jumping stars now.

They're just pixels, so its ok to inbreed if you want to. Some people don't like to, but its up to you.
