It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Sunny, if you mess up games like that they're easily fixable with a Black Orchid.

I've decided (because of course I just can't stick to one breed, heh) that I'll be buying up and BLUPing Foundations from every breed. Should be fun, gives me an outlet for my desire to collect, and means I can offer cheap coverings/custom foals to other NIBers in more breeds than just Newfs. default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 15:25:44
eek, help! My mare Hefina's mother Isla has disappeared..... I checked her out and she was a foundie, but how can I prove it now? I didn't think to take a screenshot.....
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 16:38:32
Sunny -- sorry about your messed-up games...did that myself this morning. I was in a fog and when I saw that the foal was in his *grown up* state I forgot I had one more game session left and proceeded with my usual routine for before training. I managed to salvage the day all but one hour of playing that I wanted....grrrrr...and everything had gone so swimmingly up until then AND he's one of my best GP colts.

IC -- how do you use the Black Orchid to salvage games? You...HOARDER....you!! default smiley (lol) Suddenly I"m compelled to start collecting horses....mind you..I have been buying up some bizarre things the last few days...default smiley (o) I like to have a bit of variety myself....and a strong compulsion to buy foundies regardless of the breed......

*goes off to browse IC's collection of Newfs*

Sambra -- default smiley :'( It doesn't bode well for your mare's pedigree now...

I'm having a desperate time getting wins with my 1G filly....the foundies are doing reasonably well but I think it's just that slight boost in lower level skills that are giving me grief. I keep getting beat by mini-monsters -- which is to say, small-amount-of-stars-and-not-fully-loaded horses.....hmmmm....not sure how to deal with that....*scratches head* I may have to start slapping on tack packs etc.
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 17:00:55
Wild North- looks like this day was not meant for gaming. default smiley (lol) As for the Black Orchids, they can be really handy if the foal has low energy-morale-health, as it brings back everything to 100. In my case, I had the energy needed but it was already 23:15 so I had no time for 1 hour of gaming.
Guess I fit in the hoarder category too, just bought four more foundie Newfies. default smiley (7) Competition wins still aren't going well, but training is. Hope you other are having good luck. default smiley (y)

Sambra- sorry to hear about the disappeared ancestor.. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to prove you horse is NIB default smiley :(
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 17:07:30
Not only are Black Orchids good for foals in poor condition, if you have one that has not been gamed correctly but is mid-games, you can use all the energy on playing, then use the Orchid and get more game hours in the day, thus making up for previous hours of play missed.
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 17:11:35
Inner Chorus: so with the BO it's like starting the day all over again with 100 in everything? I did not know that.
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 17:16:54
Well, you need to watch the time - but given that it will restore all stats to 100 it does mean you'll get extra play in to compensate for game time that had not been done when it should have.
Hello!

Oh poop...wish I'd thought of the BO earlier....although, if I remember correctly, I'd run out of time....default smiley :(

BMs, BOs...good times....default smiley :p

Wandering around the auctions thinking what I'd like to buy....ho...hum...
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 17:36:54
I had fun auction browsing today! It's been a while... I know I'll probably some and miss the end of others, but I saw a fair amount of foundies out there.

Back to work on my ponies today, BLUPing is going well with the aid of Nyx and Atalante Packs, heh.
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 17:58:03
I got a win! I got a win! Yay =)
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:03:39
Well done! Comps are going well right now for me, six wins on the boy I started BLUPing earlier - one race he tied with another pony, exact same time displayed...but he came second. I don't mind, though, as the other pony was also a NIB and I managed to beat it in another comp.
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:04:04
IC- oh, okay, I understand now.

I was browsing trough the sales yesterday, found some foundie foals, placed a bid here, a bid there... at one point checked out the "display only my auctions" page and there were two pages of horses on it default smiley :o I literally escaped from the auctions after that default smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:13:28
default smiley (lol), easy to get carried away with auctions...

Sigh, just waiting for comps to run now - I'm always fairly sure my foundies will get enough wins from the comps I have them entered in, but never sure enough to continue training/bolding until I know for certain. Hm. Perhaps I'll get another one started...
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:13:34
Sunny83 - I did that a couple of days ago. Luckily the lovely people here outbid me on most of them
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:19:58
Aside from my Newfs, I think I'm going to be BLUPing my other foundies the slow way with no MA and probably minimal skill boost items, too. I currently have...two Marwaris, 2 RDHs, one Welsh, one QP and one TB.
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:26:59
Time to see if my mustang uni mare has uni babies - if she does, they'll be NIB as the stud is also a foundie!
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:36:30
Sandstar12- I've also lost some, one was a very nice Paint foundation, with a fairly high GP. I bid on him and it was just after that I noticed he's a gelding... I'm not sorry about that one.

IC- good luck with the foundies! I tried to BLUP my Marwary a few weeks ago, entered him in a lot of races but they took forever to run..
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:38:29
Well, not unis BUT they will have a GP of 357.67 after games - pretty good for 1st gens! Good enough to beat the GP on the leaderboard here... I'll be selling them, though.
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:41:42
I think I finally found a way for my wins on my 45 yr old foundie. I didn't know about blupping (or how it worked) when I first had her. Barrel racing! Picked up midline western tack and slapped it on her. 3 wins so far! Not too bad for an Arab.

Trying to slowly get some wins on the others too. I'll get there!

Good luck in your comps everyone!
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2010 18:54:31
Congrats on the new babes, IC....nice even if they aren't unis!!

Sitting on a few bids.....I'm going to adopt my casual indifference attitude and just walk away..it seems to work much better than sweating over the last few seconds...default smiley ;)
You guys are so active when I am asleep, what's up with that default smiley xd lol

I got some lovely wins yesterday....off to see how Daylight did while I was asleep. I was speed training the poor neglected peggie to try to get as many skills on her before the MA falls off. 2 more years left, luckily she has WOY so it's that many more comps but unluckily it means I have to do that many more things to get skills default smiley xd

Sorry to hear about the disappeared lines, there is really nothing to be done about them default smiley :-x. I personally won't even buy a horse with them...even if the owner has a screenshot.

Sorry to hear about the foal games, was it at 1yr 6 months that it happened? If not you still have a chance to make up for it default smiley (y)

When I do auctions I tend to blanket hahaha, I bid on everything I see that is even remotely decent and then wait. Sometimes I will leave auctions alone and I have done so the last 4 or 5 days (yay me!) and hope to continue to stay away from them as it sounds like I have enough paired foundations that once they are all done I will get enough generations for a greenstar.

Good afternoon Miz.Queen...default smiley (lol)...must be a time zone thing...Yes. my gaming faux pas was at the 1yr 6m. point....I figure i only lost out a bit...I made up all but one hour of play and most of my others weren't gamed efficiently so he's still ahead of everyone else...default smiley (lol)

I'm now the bemused owner of a foundation Brumby...lost the auction on the TB but I wasn't trying too hard...

Annawe -- YES!! to barrel racing...my old already-blupped foundie mare makes a fairly decent living with barrel racing..and that's without western tack. She pays her way....default smiley ;) Who woulda thunk it?

I've seen so many juicy prospects that have been afflicted with the Curse of the HD....;tis a tragic thing to be sure...
