The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

*sigh* got some of my ones in training into comps today, they found some TOG's so had some nice bonuses to do so. *sits and waits* Now to see what happens from here. It is doubtful of any wins as they are less than 4yrs old but it would still be fun to see how they fair lol

It is easier for older foundies with more training to win, or better to get the wins when they are young?
I tend to have more luck with horses around 10yrs old but I usually have older foundations in my herd so it is hard to tell. I was able to purchase several very young foundations with little training so it isn't all messed up and doesn't need TLC to be fixed lol. It really just depends on a player's training technique. I usually wait until my horse is maxed in it's top three skills for rides only (minor training here and there while I go) and then start entering in some comps. If I start from 1yr 8months I can have a horse fully bolded at 10 years as long as they have a timer.

hm... may need to think about that then. Thanks
No problem. I know I always keep my eyes peeled for new techniques and try them out on my foundation stock. So far the one I am working with is great and got Torka to 100 BLUP and fully bolded at 10yrs 2 months. I was pleased default smiley ^)

Hello everyone,

It's raining cats dogs and baby elephants here tonight so we are hunkered down in a warm cozy living room. My horses didn't get into the shows until tonight so we will have to wait to see how they do.

How is everyone else doing?

Sandstar12 - I find it easiest to train in Dressage & Speed, then start on comps, finishing each type of comp then training in that skill. By the time I finish all comps, I usually have 20 first place wins. Doing it that way allows you to get the horse into the lowest possible comps giving them a better chance of not having to race 20* monsters.

Sandstar12 - of course that doesn't work very well if the foundie already had training done by a previous owner.

Hi Rowen, doing good so far!

Oh my I came back from my study frenzy and my mare Miss Murder has 19 wins now. Too cool!! She still has 3 shows to run so maybe she will finish competing tonight and then I will just have to work on training and she will get to 100 BLUP default smiley :)

Congrats on your win bonnieG

Forest Queen glad to hear your babies are getting some wins in there.

Off to the printer it is having issues again. *sigh*

All done today Rowen default smiley :o Outstanding. You will have to provide a link default smiley ;)

Thanks. Many more 2nd and 3rds from my group (decided to place about 10 of 'em in) and not a whole lot of anything else. Looks like my "no skills" horses are doing better than anyone else default smiley xd

Sorry to hear about the printer, hope it doesn't die on ya lol. Had that issue happen more than once and now that I use it to scan my linearts to the computer I would be rather miffed if it were to happen again default smiley (h)

Gosh I didn't think of that I hope it doesn't die I will never be ready to teach class tomorrow default smiley (lol)

All those poor kindergartners and no cool things for them to do how will I survive default smiley :d

Thank goodness it only ended up being out of ink and mad because it didn't like the size of what I wanted to print. All very fixable problems.

Seems like my girl is going to stall out on me tonight on her last win none of her shows are running now. Oh well have to check back in the morning.

I took a look at her, she is nice default smiley ^). Saw Silvery is looking stunning too. One of my boys just finished their games today so will get a nyx tomorrow and sped trained up to 10. Hoping it turns out nice so that I have a stud for my mare CelticMind. She only has 352 GP but I believe the foals will still be stellar, ya know default smiley :p

I have a billion races waiting on me and I just wish they would hurry up. Tired of this one monster beating some of them but I guess it can't be helped. She needs BLUPing too lol. I saw a few of yours in trots but stayed away as I saw a monster affix on one of the horses against them default smiley :-x

default smiley (lol) I just took a look at Starz (the mare I just bought back) and saw that her foal is from a 100 BLUP foundation TB. Should be a stunning little crossbred. Might keep to be a filler or a collectible. Unless anyone here does NIB crosses concerning arabs and TBs

How to make foundies win comps? Laurels and Spurs. default smiley (lol) I got a foundie mare from the auctions that already had both, and she's won all of the first five comps that I entered her in. default smiley :d It's a shame that it's not really feasable to put them on to all of my foundies.

Yay, Strawberry Lark has won two for me so far tonight. Who would have thought one of my 100 BLUP horses would be a good filler default smiley xd, then again Starz health is below par lol. Got Luxurious One up to 355.9 GP and now he is 4 years old. I will finish him up later today when I am home on my own computer. Off to bed so that I don't fall apart at work later, maybe some more of my foundies will race and get some big wins while I am away default smiley :p

You arab breeders are lucky - there are tons of comps for you to enter.

I'm struggling with my Dons since there are only few comps for their breed and even less horses entering to those... and ofc there are those greenstar horses too trying to blub.

Don's are not high speed horses so open comps are kinda bad for them. Seems that my arab training program don't work with NIB dons since not enough comps for them to run.
Usually I take 2 horses, board them for 4 days, enter them as many comps as I can and then take break until those are done.... sadly seems that it can take month or more default smiley :@

I got 1 mare blubbed (one I bought with BM shoes, timer and eolus wings), if I ever want to get don greenstar I will need like zillion more... sometimes I feel I want to give up and take bit more popular breed for NIBs insteaddefault smiley :(

Is there any forum for selling foundies or do I need to dare to go to negotiation forum? default smiley :o

Shadowbird--if you join the NIB list forums (contact Obsidianmoon) there are places to advertise your NIBs for sale and/or stud.

I've not had any wins yet, but I've been trying to train my horses! Any tips?
By Retired breeder, 26th January 2010 22:27:14
zoorocker -- if you're wanting to breed NIBs then you'd be better off waiting until your mare - Cleopatra - is fully BLUPped before breeding her again...to get the best possible foals. Everyone has a different training style and it often depends on the breed. I usually start with doing short rides and train in speed and dressage before I start to enter comps...after that, it's a take-it-as-it-comes, depending again on the breed. Most of the time it's safe to start your comps with low skill trot and gallop....It's also a good idea to completely ignore the little helpful messages that pop up when you're training..the ones that say "Because of it's origins..." ...ack! Nightmarish misinformation...default smiley ;)

Shadowbird -- I understand your pain...default smiley (lol)....the comps are filling up at a painstakingly slow rate these last few days.....urgh.....

I went on an entering-spree this morning -- about a gazillion comps between my NIBs and the rest of the crew. My green monster is tearing up the track out there (I noticed and avoided some NIB-centric races default smiley (7))...if only my foundies were so easy....default smiley (lol)
