It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I'm currently breeding NIB Morgans. I actually keep record of my horses' lineage on Geni.com. It helps me make sure that I don't accidentally inbreed one of my horses, and it really helps when a horse disappears from your horse's lineage.

I bred NIB mustangs for awhile, but then I just didn't have enough time for them anymore, and I sold them all.
Just curious.... How many Generations of a non-foundation horse does everyone go back to check for inbreeding?

All the way back to Ouranous and Gaia. If I can't get all the back to Ouranous and Gaia when purchasing a horse, due to horse disappeared or something, I won't buy it.
wow, thanks. Good job I'm off work for a few days!

Ditto'd on the "all the way back to Ouranous and Gaia." That's the requirement for a NIB howrse.
.... I just picked up an NIB Marwari foal for 500e in the PS. He has no skills and will have 355.?? GP if I do proper foal games. Currently deciding what to do with him. I have saved his family tree if any of his ancestors decide to disappear... but still...

And that's what... at least 4 or 5 people breeding NIB Morgans? Wow.... That's more than I thought that there'd be. (I'm also doing the same XD)

There's probably more but haven't shown up here yet.

Also, thank you to everyone for being so helpful!

i am searching for other dedicated nib shetland breeders...i have 4 foundi shelties and wish to expand my breeding with other players.
Pony, I have a few foundation shetlands in my other horses tab that I am willing to let them go for a good price if you'd like.

To those breeding connies I will slowly be selling my foundations that I have. I barely have time for my arabians so I will be letting someone who focuses on connies take care of them.

Anyone with foundie arabians they are selling please PM me default smiley ;)

I also have TONS of untouched foundation foals (various breeds) that I don't really need, just getting to 6 months to have a chance at easy aging points default smiley (lol).

PM me

I have a bunch of foundie horses of various breeds, most are young foals, untouched, that I'm looking to get rid of. I got them at great prices, so for you guys I'll let you have them basically for free LOL I just picked them up and didn't even think about it. Maybe I was subconsciously thinking of all of you!

I have:

Brumbies
Barbs
Russian Dons
Irish Hunter
Marwary
Australian Pony

All the horses are in my other horses tab, with (F) next to their names. PM me if you are interested!

Can we have our own NIB selling forum? I have some Aussie NIB's I am selling and I don't know where to post that.
By Retired breeder, 27th December 2009 04:42:52
Hi,

I help maintain the NIB List along with Starting Right. All current Howrse breeds are on the list and Howrse members breeding NIB are listed under the various breeds. Come check it out and if you're not listed, contact us to be added!

The site is http://nib-list.obsidianmoonranch.com

Take care fellow NIB breeders!
SoubisSacrifice, great idea. I'm going to try it out.

obsidianmoon, thanks for the info. I'll check it out.

Just to let everyone know, I've set up space in my forum for breeders to find other breeders, by breed. It's too difficult in this forum. I hope it helps.

I have a question to put to the NIBbers out there: If a horse disappears from a pedigree of a KNOWN NIB horse, is the horse still considered non-inbred?

I bought a mare nearly a year ago, and at the time her sire was still in her pedigree. Both horses were foundation horses, but yesterday when I was checking to see if I could use a foal of hers to breed to another mare, I discovered her sire is listed as "horse disappeared". I know she's not inbred, but what does everyone else think?

Many of us, including myself, sell of most horses with a disappeared line. Even if I know that a horse is NIB with a disappeared line it is near impossible to resell the horse for any worth while amount.

There are some who keep the horses for their own line, so it is up to you how you feel about it default smiley :)

I've entered my foundie stally in so many races! I'm trying to BLUP him and breed him and game the foal before Sunday is over so I can enter it in for the GP rankings. default smiley :d

I've bought a second gen stally, but now I'm worried about his parents disappearing. Is it worth the risk using him in my programme?
