The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I have a NIB barb, lots of BM's what should I stick him @?
By Retired breeder, 23rd December 2009 16:41:41
For those of you who have been breeding NIB's for a while, what do you do with your older stock? I know that selling them can be a problem if the player quits their game and the horse disappears. I can see the value in keeping the stallions forever as they will be of value to others looking to breed their mares.

When I started my small little program a few months ago I bred my 2nd generation mare to a couple stallions owned by other players. Now I am so parinoid that they will quit their game, the horses will disappear and my foals from that line will be worthless. That's why I started buying up colts to raise.

Safe haven? Send to heaven after 30 to get pass? Keep them in limbo?

T~
By Retired breeder, 23rd December 2009 16:45:08
id jus send to 30, but I ain't a NIB. I just H A VE one.
By Retired breeder, 23rd December 2009 16:45:32
anyway, what should my NIB barb go for?
I personally either keep my stock in limbo after I get a foal or sell to another NIBer.

riverdoe I did a happy dance for you default smiley :-))

By Retired breeder, 23rd December 2009 19:45:43
I'm sure there are people breeding NIB Standardbreds...they just have not shown up here yet default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 23rd December 2009 20:48:52
*sigh* to true about the disappeared lines. Which stinks because I do provide a garauntee when I sell my NIB's. I will likely age them out myself. I would hate to get to greenstar and have them disappear. With any luck I should have my first 4g soon. OK time to get off my rear end and actually work all of my horses today. I managed to get 2 blupped yesterday and 1 is done for today.
By Retired breeder, 23rd December 2009 20:49:33
Just a note should anyone want a foal off of any of those horses let me know today as I will age them out later tonight. ( well the ones with arms anyways)

If anybody has any foundation PSH mares, fillies, colts, or stallions, they want to sell, please PM me ASAP. I am trying to start NIB PSHs, but I can't find any foundations to start my line with. Please no affixes.
http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=7789490 can someone give me advice on what to do for this little girl so i can get the full 1.2 gain for her. I'm thinking I would need to get her an orchid if so I'm going to have to wait until I can buy one. I also bought a male are there any gaming hiccups I should know about don't want a repeat of what happened to my Shetland.

bluetempest > On the schedule you use did you do the 8 month day of games etc correctly? If so then orchid her when you can. default smiley :)
I bought her already at 10 months. Her moral is low moral, too fat, and energy is not 100%. I tried the do games with my Shetland before I found out they have somewhat different games you have to do with them to make sure they don't get colic. I read a few post in here about some ponies getting colic and being funny eater so want all the bases covered since I never did games for a QP.

bluetempest: She is at least 5 hours behind what she should be. So yes, you will definitely need a BO for her, if not two. At 10 months old, after proper games at 8 months, she should have a GP of .16 and after games at ten months old, she should have .34

Unfortunately, I don't have proper games for ponies, only CraXor games... so I have no idea how you would go about gaming her. The shetland I gamed on Craxor methods ended up with colic twice, as I mentioned above. I would suggest stock up on two or three black orchids and use as needed.

To clarify, I'm aware that there are several different ways of gaming, however I usually just stick to one that works perfectly for me, even over on Caballow...

If I bought two when should I give her the second one? I know you said you don't like to change what foal games you use but Daxillium has some in her? forum made just for Shetlands have not had a chance to use them yet but the other games I have tried have worked and I only use those games.

Basically, I would suggest that when you place her in an EC, if she is overweight, don't feed her. Game her as much as you can, and then give her a BO, then game again until she is at 22.00 but don't go past that. Also remember to bed in the meadow, as that will give her 94 energy/95 morale tomorrow morning.

As for the second BO, basically kinda do the same thing when she's 1 year old. If you groom, play 1 hour, feed - don't put in meadow at all - then game until she's low in energy again, give an orchid, then game until 22:00.

I will have a look at Daxilliums forum and see what she should be according to her schedule.

Also, someone has posted about managing to get the 1.2 gain on a badly gamed foal. I wish I could remember who it was, but they managed it with 3 BOs and they got the gain halfway through the last day at 1 year 6 months.

I just picked up an untouched hano colt in the PS for a great price. I'm so excited that I need to go start training him LOL
By Retired breeder, 24th December 2009 05:06:59
Pintar, I have foundie PSH's, but i am looking for passes for them...
By Retired breeder, 24th December 2009 08:00:28
okay, training for the new hano baby has no begun, because he desperately needs an EC that doesn't have disgusting meadows.

Is anyone here willing to take him for four days? Seems like ya'll are the best to turn to when it comes to this. I'm not picky and I'll pay max price.

Hello all. default smiley :) I'm just starting out with NIB breeding and had a question.

I am worried that my NIB horses will be no good if someone owning one of their parents, grandparents, etc quits. I have been told that, 'Horse Disappeared,' in a pedigree makes the horse worthless as a NIB. However up above it says they are still accepted if the horse was bought before their pedigree got marked and it can be verified that it was pure.

My question is, how do I go about getting my NIB horses' pedigrees, verified?

I only have one right now, Ribbon, and her pedigree is clean. But I'm not sure how to... safegaurd her for the future.

Thanks for any help. default smiley ^)
By Retired breeder, 24th December 2009 08:13:47
Oh! I had one more question.

Foundies are NIB horses, and their offspring are considered NOB as well. (If they are pure of course)

But do unicorn rejects count? I mean, her pedigree is pure, but it is also all unicorns so I'm unsure if she is accepted as a NIB?
