The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I have two horses that need less than 10 wins left to get to 100 blup but I have a question.

I have heard people talking about clouding during training...what does that mean and is it really worth it to do ?

I suppose it depends on the gain in the EC.....default smiley (o)

I don't know if it's really worth it...then again, I've got a whole whack of PoC's with no idea if/when to use the things.....default smiley *-)
I've never really used them but I hear a lot of people talking about using them to blup their horses but it seems that would be expensive pass wise to do for every horse.

6 wins and then they are 100 BLUP and it will probably take them the next 20 years to get there. Boy this game can be stressful sometimes default smiley (lol)

Oh well back to the competitions to check on my babies!!

I've just put a few covers up on the public boards from my Foundation TB stallion Torque Wrench; only 200e each. He's fully blupped & bolded.

IH foundie

Yay for Rowen!
By Retired breeder, 14th January 2010 03:05:35
Rowen - I agree, it really can be stressful!!! Especially eking out those last few wins....ugh.

And then there's the people with blupped/bolded/gazillion-win mons-tah's who for some inexplicable reason choose to enter those overachieving beasts into low-skill races to pick up the measly 12e for a win.....

oh, did I just rant there....

rough day at the comps....an outbreak of seconditis....default smiley :@

As for the clouds....I dunno, I'm just faking knowing what they're all about until I finally figure it out....default smiley :p

Paint-John 3:16
Thoroughbred-Isaiah

good luck struck me a couple of days ago. It was pretty weird...
I was looking through the sales and found a pregnant russian don horse mare.
She was only 500e, so i vought her. After she gave birth, I saw she had no stars.
So I looked into the family tree, and it turned out she was a NIB russian don, so I sold her for 800e....but it was so random, i thought it was odd after I sold the mare.
I've got a 1st-gen mare who is one win away from being 100% BLUP (with several easy comps pending). default smiley ^)

Thing is, my only 100% BLUP stallion is a foundation - if I breed these two, will I be setting myself back? Should I wait until my 1st-gen stud is ready?

Wild North,

I get where you're coming from after today. I entered over 200 comps and only won about 12. The two horses I am really working are so close to being done it hurts. One is 5 wins away and the other is 6 and they all of a sudden can't win to save their souls. When I check the lists afterward there are hugely amazingly well stated horses running against my poor little foundies. They never stood a chance. That's one of the things that makes NIBing so challenging though because we are never really going to get a fair shot in the shows because the horses we are working are so far behind the others being shown.

Oh well we'll keep plugging along.

Misabel I don't think it would be a problem to breed a 1st gen and a foundation. I have done it in the past and the foals turned out fine. It's totally up to your discretion and whether or not you feel that their pairing will make a good foal.

Good luck Blupping your mare!! default smiley :)

Rowen I understand your pain default smiley xd
I'm not a NIB breeder but i'm still trying to BLUP my foundie, to no avail. She's stuck on 13 wins and I'm stuck on lvl 5 because I don't want to breed her!
By Retired breeder, 14th January 2010 05:21:10
Misabel...I used to always breed my howrses and for fresh new lines I would throw in a foundation every couple of generations..I dont see a problem with doing that either..i believe it keeps the lines fresh..lol.

I think I boo booed. Call it the eagerness of the brand new NiBer.

I bred both of my only NiB mares to the same Stallion (which I also own). So far I got one boy out of it, and it looks like the next one is going to be a boy too (which I may sell so not to explode my head).

It seems that it is a lot easier to breed NiBs if you have dedicated pairings.

Ah well. Live and learn.
By Retired breeder, 14th January 2010 08:22:05
Woohoo, my highest GP mare got her 20 wins. I just have to train her in stamina and she'll be 100 BLUP. default smiley :-)) That said, I'm looking for a NIB Arabian stallion with 359+ GP to breed her to. Anyone? default smiley *-)
By Retired breeder, 14th January 2010 11:41:29
Yippeeeeee Sunny83!! Congrats!

Misabel - I bred my foundie to a NIB stallion and got a lovely filly with an very nice GP....I don't think it's a step back at all. Mind you, I'm fairly new at this but it seems the more experienced folk agree....

Rowen - default smiley :'(...'tis disheartening, I know...but at the same time just hardens my resolve....I do like the challenge of trying to outwit the Big Horses. Still, it does bother me that people don't think of the poor wee bluppers when they enter for those easy wins. I know I do that when I'm entering my blupped greenstars......I'm happy just to *pick up a cheque*. default smiley ;) Hang in there, m'dear.....we'll pop the bubbly when they've got their last few wins.

Then again, I checked up on a repeat offender and it looks like she's only 11 years old so I forgave her...default smiley ;)

Annawe - interesting point you make...I hadn't really thought about that but it does make sense...wonder what everyone else has to say on that.....oh dear, does this mean I have to go and buy MORE? default smiley (lol)

Time to do some 'test' entries today....see where I am with a few of my recent purchases....

Happy day, all.....

default smiley (7)

PS. Day two...no auction. (then again, I was at work all day yesterday.....)

I finally managed to get a foundation stallion with 351.2 GP. He is halfway through BLUPing, I just bought him from Yankee Lady. He is really nice. The second one (again, 351.2GP and halfay through BLUPing) will be coming next week! Now I just got to find some lovely ladies........default smiley ;) *Races to sales*default smiley (lol)

ATTENTION ALL NIB SHETLAND BREEDERS!!

now that i have your undivided attention, i would like to let you all know that i am not breeding NIB anymore and all my shetlands exept for Leviton are up for grabs. i loved the challenge of breeding NIB, but i am finding it hard to keep it up..... all the high starred shets stop my NIB shets from winning and getting 100 blupdefault smiley (lol) please pm me for more details.

Yippeee! Yippeeeee! Yippeeee!!

First win from my first homebred NIB.....yippeeeeee!!

*dances a jig*

One down, 19 to go....
Rowen I hope to see (03) Lantern! in the comps again. I put a couple of fillers against her nice to see she won both races. If I can will put them up against her again. I also don't use clouds that much but had some saved and gave them to one of my foundations. Its nice to use if you want the extra skill from lesson. Most breeders who wants their horses in the elite do it along with bolding to get a 1000 in skill.

Ok can I join AA I just bought two horses for no reason other than they were less than 1000e. Like I really had the money to spare. default smiley (lol)

Barb female
Peruvian Paso female
And placed a bid on her >.>
Australian Pony female
