It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

blackforest - I just looked at her family tree. My advice would be to ditch her. Unless you know who those horses that have "disappeared" are, I would consider her a dud. You may want to keep her, but don't breed her with any of your NIB stock or you might "pollute" yur bloodlines.

Just got a 359.31 Welsh colt at birth out of OxG Queen Elizabeth II. Will end at 360.51, the highest Welsh so far default smiley :) I'm not submitting him yet, since I'm not doing games today.

Link to him: http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=8830588

I gave him Tears, but his skills are so low because the father is not 100 BLUP yet, only 68, just waiting for competitions to run. Normally I never breed without 100 BLUP but I knew it would be worth it lol, and I'll rebreed the pair once he's 100. Oh, and yes, I do realize that a branch of his bloodlines are missing, when I bought him they were all there, they were OxG, though I'm sorry I cannot recall the names. I bought him to pair with my mare and I compared both and they're not related, so for me anyway, as long as I know that I can use him for breeding. Though other breeders may want to steer clear of him.

I just got my highest foals, twin purebred appaloosa fillies with GPs of 360.93 at birth. They'll make it over 362.

I don't understand... Can someone try to explain what a NIB is in a different way? What do they mean by a horse not inbred, and what's a pedigree?
Filly8 - NIB or Non-InBred means that a horse's bloodlines are totally unique. No horse appears in it more than once and they are often very difficult to breed. You have to do a very thorough check through other horses' family trees to know whether or not it is Non-InBred.

Dang! That is a challenge too hard for me!
I am in desperate need for a Black Orchid. Does anyone have one that I could buy off of them?

PM me, I don't know if I can ask here, but I didn't know what else to do.

Alright. Maybe I can get at least 600e from her. I won't list her as NIB when I put her in the P.S.
Not that good with connemaras anyway.
By Retired breeder, 14th December 2009 01:20:57
AdmYrrek! Yayy nice to see you here default smiley :). Was wondering when I would see you pop in. default smiley :-))
My suggestion to anyone with a disappeared line.. cull it from your NIB breeding group unless you have absolutely no interest in selling your foals that go back to that horse.
Not saying that to be mean. Just being blunt. The ones I have had that pop up like that I tend to remove my NIB affix and turn them into fillers or I will sell them. ( Now mind you a lot of my Filler family affixed horses are truly NIB .. I just put the new affix on them because I do not plan to breed them and do not want the trouble of selling right now)
Anywho though. Just a heads up if anyone is interested I have some foundation Brumbies laying around I do not plan to use. ( NIBing one breed is enough for me lol)
By Retired breeder, 14th December 2009 01:23:04
Blackforest if you want toss her in the privates to me for 800e so you can get a lil profit. I will use her as a filler horse.
I was away for 2 days & just caught up with posts, here are my thoughts on some of the questions asked:

How to choose breeding pairs - I try to match the pairs by GP, age, skills, color (usually just black & S. Roan). I want the horses to have close GP to get the best gain.

Breeding a pair several times - I don't breed until the horses have all skills bolded, 100 BLUP and are both over 15 (I will also wait till 20) years old (I have found that the older the parents, the better the gp gain of the foal - anyone else notice that?)

Winning comps - I try to race a horse before training, not always possible if I buy an older already trained horse. Someone posted a very similar training schedule to what I use for foundies

Speed & Dressage training with Long Sloped rides
Jumping comps followed by jumping training - should bold jump & dressage by end of training
Stamina comps followed by training - should have stamina bolded too
trot comps (may have to do some training to have enough skills to enter races)
gallop comps
trot & gallop training then finish short rides
Note: I will do a short gallop ride whenever I have enough energy & time while doing trotting & galloping comps. I always put my horses in the lowest race it can enter.
I very rarely have a horse that does not reach 20 wins by the time I have finished gallop races, unless it had training done before I got it. I'm done with most horses between the ages of 15 & 20 because I don't use CT unless I also use WOY

WOY - I love it for the skills gain (double lessons) and if I use it early, I never have a problem getting 20 wins. Yes it takes longer, but I'm not in a big rush to BLUP my horses, so its no big deal. I have one 2nd gen (Rufio) who has WOY & no CT. He had 20 wins before I finished jumping comps but I feel like I've been working him forever!

Had to put my 2 cents in!!! LOL

Thanks Forest, I see it was a busy weekend on the NIB board.

For anyone interested, I'm always willing to create foals from my stock or send covers to other NIBers. Covers are 200e and I have info on custom foals on my homepage.

Are any Arab NIBers interested in foal swaps? Just a thought I had this weekend. I guess it would work something like this:

We each choose a set number of pairs from the other persons stock, both of us do the breeding, then sell the resulting foals to the other player for a set amount (since we are both breeding the same # of foals, the prices should offset each other). There would be a stipulation that if either player is going to sell the foundies used, the other player gets first dibs on buying them to reduce chances of horses disappearing.

Anyone have any thoughts on this type swap?
