I've been wanting to get into these models, but the big thing holding me back is the *lack* of correct detail on many. Many gorgeous models lack the needed definition and especially the legs, throat latch and head lack sculpture, detail, and are just kind of blocky.

For example take the picture I posted just above this message. Gorgeous foal, but look at those legs!

What do you all think? Should I go for it anyway? Or just go for the finer models?

I'm a big-time Breyer collector because they're so lifelike and detailed, so this is something that's big to me.

The pasterns are really really big for me too, they need to be fine and lifelike. :-)

You have to remember that no real horse is perfect in conformation either, if the Confo is something you can deal with....go for it! If not, stick to Breyers.
I love them because they are smaller and easier to store than Breyers and more durable as well, so they can withstand angry cat rampagesdefault smiley (lol)

Of course, but lifelike is something important to me. Thank you for your input. I love to collect the Stablemates Breyers because you can get lots for relatively cheap and they are smaller but still so detailed and wonderful. I may just pick up a few of the best models of Schliech and work on more Breyers!

What do you think about this one Champion?
By Retired breeder, 30th August 2016 00:04:48
That one isn't my favorite. I recommend the Appy mare and the hanoverian Mare for nice models.

That is one of the finer ones! Thank you! I love that one now mainly (LOL) for the mane. The pasterns and leg detail is so much nicer than a lot of them, especially that one I found, and the conformation is a lot nicer too. Overall a beautiful model!! Thank you Ms. Pony! default smiley (l)

Thank you for the model advice. :-) I think I owned the Hano a long time ago. default smiley (l) I'll check on the Appy.

Thank you both!!
I have the old hano mare and old point stallion

Which pinto stallion is that? Is that the chestnut -sort of color overo? In a trot? I used to have that one. :-)

My favorite models so far are the Hanoverian mare and foal, the Tennessee Walker mare (the stallion looks nice too, but I don't have him yet) and the Arabian stallion (I'd love to get the mare posted above but don't have her yet). I also really like the Tinker stallion, but I've never seen the mare before. I have an old Tinker mare, she's really nice but I doubt you can find her now.
I think so, this it it

Yez Ma'am! (Or sir). That's exactly the one I used to have ( I used to have three of that same model). A wonderful model - I LOVE the eyes.
I have two of them. Now unfortunately both of them have marks all over them, maybe i can try a magic eraser but I got no clue how to get the marks off

I'd try a Magic Eraser first, depending on what kind of marks they are? Magic Erasers have always worked, well...magic, for me.
Hey guys. Have you heard of the new schleich blind bags? You can get three animals for ten dollars. There are horses included in the 20 mystery animals .
When I went to my Toys R Us, they told me that they had them somewhere in the back and couldn't find them to sell them to me. I'm so mad.default smiley :@ I want to go into their back room and dig thru their boxes to find the one with the schleich tape. Just give me a helmet and some gloves.

How can you actually play with a schleich model? I love collecting them but from the toy perspective it's a bit confusing. They are difficult if not impossible to reposition, and I can't really see how to play with them.

You don't reposition them. I move them around in their normal poses. I have a whole story line going on. Emily is in love with Brian but he dumped her for Tasha Goldberg and now Emily gave up her job as barn manager and Amelia is working double time as well as caring for two horses which she's showing on the eventing circuit.
LOL sorry....
Anyway, with a little imagination they can be great toys.

I doubt I will be getting any new Schleich for a while, seeing as I busted my money on 2 new Breyers and a t-shirt from the Keith Urban concert I went to. Oh well, I love my new Breyers and t-shirt, so I don't really mind XD. I think I will be making some accessories for my existing ones instead, like halters and blankets and whatnot. Seeing as I don't want to talk to my dad anymore I guess that's what I will be doing when I go over there default smiley xd
