What do you guys think of the Friesians (both the stallion and mare) as well as the Lipizzan mare? I don't have those guys but like both Friesians and Lipizzans in real life, and I'd like to know if they are worth the purchase?
By Retired breeder, 4th August 2016 13:04:15
I don't know about the Lippizans, I don't have them. But I like the fresian mare who has the red ribbon in her mane. My friend has her. She's cute, but not really really pretty. Most certainly not ugly, there's just nothing really special about her. I have the new fresian stallion. He's amazing. Enormous neck, and mine has really streaky gloss on his legs, making it look like there's water running down each leg, but it's not super noticeable. I love his face, hair, and pose. He looks very regal and beautiful. But beware- he is giant. Tall, huge neck, huge head, cute but jumbo.

I like all of them! XD Although the firsian stallion has matte hair and a glossy body, at least mine does, just so you can decide a bit better! default smiley :)

Can someone tell me how to make tack for my Schleich, I have some but no tack or stalls or anything!default smiley :(
Heres a few for you,its not the greatest help though so if you cant understand it,look on youtube.

For a blanket:

Cut out the shape of a blanket from felt.
Fit it to the horse
Glue velcro onto the sides of the front part of your blanket. Remember to fit it first though

For polo wraps:

Get some sports bandage (you should find it in any pharmacy)
Cut the width of it (should be 1/4 -1/2 of the horses cannon bone)
Cut the lenght of the polo wrap (measure it before you cut it though)
Copy this 3 more times to get a set of 4 polo wraps.

For stable wraps:

Cut out a small rectangle of felt that is the same lenght of the horses cannon bone and goes around the leg 1-2 times (depends on you,but i like it to go around once)
Put the felt around the leg and use polo wraps the hold it there.

For a saddle cloth:

Cut a square of felt
Fit it to fit nicely under a specific saddle.
Make sure it fits.

Thank you guys for the reviews on the Friesian, they will be very helpful!

@chromed - you could make some duct tape tack, or use it to make a barn with some cardboard.

Chromed had good points but there are also great tutorials on YouTube. Also stalls are easily made from popsicle sticks.

YouTube is indeed your best friend. There's several blanket tutorials, halter tutorials, stall tutorials, and even saddle tutorials on YouTube. The most commonly-used material for easy Schleich tack are felt and 3millimeter ribbon (grosgrain ribbon is preferred for halters, but not necessary.)

I named my Mustang Mare, (who is now a morgan/thoroughbred cross gelding) Rondelay, and the Mini Shetty mare (who is now a shetland gelding) Pickpocket.

Akhal-teke mare reviews?
Popped in agin lol

I have the frisian mare with the red ribbon. She looks good with the foal and is majestic, but not that cute in my opinion lol. I have a few pictures, I'll go grab them...

I like her. She has a nice colour and she's made of good heavy plastic - not some of the new, bendy stuff like with the Shire stallion. She's hard to use as a riding horse though since she's grazing.

Have you guys seen the four 2017 horses schleich released? I really love the new Icelandic stallion.

I just looked at them. I kinda like the Icey stallion but he looks rather disporportionate. The haffy stallion is ok, I guess. Don't like the haffy mare and foal though. Schleich's been doing a pretty bad job the past year or two.
By Retired breeder, 12th August 2016 12:35:16
I actually like all of them except the haffy mare. Am I the only one that likes the direction Schleich is taking?
By Retired breeder, 12th August 2016 19:20:22
I haven't seen any of these new models. Where are you guys finding them?
By Retired breeder, 12th August 2016 20:18:23
I just looked up 2017 schleich.
By Retired breeder, 12th August 2016 23:45:31
There's a video of them on YouTube

Thanks guys! They all look gorgeous! I particularly like the Icelandic stallion.

I don't dislike the "direction" they're taking. I like that they're doing cool poses and beautiful coloring. I don't dislike that they're so disporportionate and badly conformed. I think if they want to make the horses more realistic, the poses are cool but they need to do a better job on the horse itself.
