For my first try, this isn't bad. . . My Arabian (now Pintabian/Pintarab/whatever it's called) mare, Jumanah.

Oh wow, that's beautiful! I've never repainted one. Congrats on a job well done! Also, I'm glad you like the horses I got...i have the Pintabian stallion coming in the mail. They didn't have any stallions I needed at the stores I went to. And I hope to get the Pintabian foal sometime soon.default smiley :)

Thank you! It's better then my last attempt at repainting a Schleich. I'm still picking the paint off my Friesian stallion. . . >.>

0.0 Ooh, I'll have to look them up and see what they look like!

But mine has a bent front leg and i'm not sure its supposed to be bent like that. I wish i had another one to compare. Oh well!

Hmmm. . . Doesn't look like anything's wrong with it from this angle. . . You could try bending it into shape again?

I know I need to do that with my Lippizzaner colt. He was in a backpack pocket for a few years and when I found him again his legs were all bent inward. default smiley (n) Now he can't stand properly most of the time.

Anyways - If it's bent inward, you could try having a folded piece of cardboard between the legs. When I got a Schleich cow (along with a chicken, a lamb, and a donkey) in a box included with a barn it had that.

Hello. As you can see, I'm new here! I collect many horses of many different brands but Breyer and Schleich are my main brands. I'd also like to talk about an experiment that I did. Clear nail polish helps shine Breyer and Schleich horse's coats and hooves up so they look good! Just kind of an experiment...
I used to do that, but then the polish started to lift and peel after a while. . . However, putting it on the hooves is a good idea!

Here's two tips involving nail polish~
1. If you have friends with the same models as you, put a dab of coloured nail polish on the bottom of one hoof. For mine, it's one of the back hooves.
2. Same as above (I use both, though the first idea came from my mom): Make a "brand" that you can paint on your horse. For me, it's a yellow crescent moon and on the right hindquarter.

I'll see if I can go rustle up a horse or two with them. I think my gray Andalusian mare has them. . .

Another tip~
* Gently rubbing a small amount of baby oil on a Schleich (never done it on a Breyer) with a cotton ball makes them shine! Also, they end up smelling nice as a bonus ^.^

I have quite a few of them but never thought to get into repainting them- be a nice try at it. I have a few breyers as well. Breed wise I have range from a arabian to a simple mustang.

Here is my newest that i got in the mail today. He's retiring at the end of this year, at least i think, so i searched one out of Ebay. Now i'm broke. I bought too many Schleich this past month!default smiley xd

I used to have a Schleich a few years ago who looked just like my first pony - my pony has fairly recently died, and so I'd really like to get this model, but I can't seem to find it.

It was a flaxen chestnut welsh pony type?

Ahhh, I do too! I've had mine since the beginning of my Schleich collecting. I named him March to Glory.

Is there a market for repainted ones out there, or is it more for personal value? I like to preserve the value of mine, so how does it affect it? I'm not really into repainting mine but i know a lot of people do it! And they are so pretty!default smiley 8-)

I think you might be thinking of the Dartmoor stallion!

@ Famousamos: I don't know what the market is like for customized Schleich - it was mostly for personal value. I just decided he was getting markings, and that was that!

Also makes me think of the Icelandic, but if you think thats the one i'm glad you found it! I'm so sorry about you losing your baby!

Oh ok cool. I wondered if that was the case. If you don't plan on selling, like me, then you could have all kinds of fun repainting!
