I started riding at five, on a pony named Smokey. He was a reliable stable pony that was nearly everyone at my barn's 'first horse', and I was in love (I even had a little plush horse that looked just like him on my bed). He actually belonged to one of the trainers who worked at my barn, and when she left, Smokey went with her. I was heartbroken (at six or so, it seemed like the end of the world).

My mom tracked down the trainer and surprised me with a lesson at her place a few years later. He lived to nearly 30.

I rode a little pinto pony named Callie. She was supper stubborn and chubby, but I loved her. She was basically bomb proof. She is still at my barn. I actually rode again for the first time in like 3 years last week.

The first pony I think I ever rode was at a fair. The pony's name was Tinkerbell. The first pony I actually learned something on was named Simon, he was super cute!

I rode a VERY bomb proof Chestnut Shetland pony with four white socks and a tiny star on his head named Tigger. Where I ride we have mostly ponies. He is the best pony there. He is so careless, he has no personality! He is a blob. A 2 yr old could get him to do anything. I've seen it. I love him.

The first horse I rode was a Spanish Mustang named Painted Feather. I still go visit her. shes in her mid-twenties now and sadly developed Cushing's. She's loving retirement though!

Mom and I stopped at the stables on the way home from the hospital when I was less than 23 hours old. I have a picture somewhere of her holding me up on his back. He was such a gentle hose and I miss him dearly.

I don't remember the first horse's name I rode ... I think I was like four ... and I have had a bad memory the last number of years. but the first one I clearly remember was Sweetpea. She was I think either a warmblood or a QH mare, bay or dark bay and very sweet. She was mainly used for trail rides so I often had to switch onto an older appy, fleabitten gelding named Gizmo. I rode them until I was probably around twelve. Then everything was just awkward and spotty. Then came Peanut who was my favorite, she was a little dun Welsh pony that I rode during most of college, and then Jazz who was a total character ... but also a huge sweetheart as long as you gave him mints. He was also terrified of everything even though he was this huge paint quarter horse bigger than most of the others.
