Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Ok, so I tried the TB as suggesteddefault smiley :) Would've tried a Morgan but the highest I could find at 100 blup was only like 4300...wasn't all that appealing..pretty happy that I got a filly default smiley :p

Long Awaited Plan

Next week I'll see what I can find on Hanos and see what happensdefault smiley ;)

Btw, I have plenty of Gyp studs available for crossing in my 7th Ave. Stallions barn.
I've used my own and I think somewhere I have a cross or two from them.

I recently managed to breed a cross into the top 100 (#62) for KWPN gallop default smiley :) I'm interested to see how her foal turns out for rankings once skilled.

I just wanted to show you all my first cross-bred horse. I hope she turned out alright?
I really enjoyed the process of finding a good breed for a mustang. I'm thinking about crossbreeding more in the future. default smiley :)
Okay, I admit, I experimented. Not sure if I did it right, but I felt like doing a crossbreed. For some reason, I like "mutt" animals; horses and dogs alike. Imperfection is beautiful.

Anyways, onto my lovely colt. His name is Kaulk, which I just pulled out of my head.
He may have been a failure to one who knows what they're doing, heh. But, I think he's cute.

(I am seeing now that everyone strives for the best horse, that's all right. Not my forte, as I am just a serf among royalty, but I guess I will try my best for my horses succeed.)

Anyone have any idea on what the breed of a foal between this mare and this Stallion would be? Im hoping it would turn out irish but its possible it could turn out Gypsy...

I guess ill just breed a foal and see...

He looks lovely! GP is low (for my taste), but that cross still looks like it should be fun. Good luck with him!
By Retired breeder, 19th October 2016 01:41:49
well, of course the foal turned out GV instead of irish hunter, so i now have no use for him and his twin.
if anyone wants one or both youre more than welcome to them.

Im trying to think if anyone here does vanners...
By Retired breeder, 19th October 2016 02:53:18
I'd like one, please! default smiley (7)

I'll take the twin, schmexy. I've never played with anything with Irish in it. (Don't worry. No plans to take over your Irish boards.)

Looks nice! Is she easy to get wins with?

There's no wrong way to do it.default smiley :) I've tried once for the best horse (best highland pony), and it was both fun and a bit too expensive to get breeding stock, although everyone here was wonderfully helpful. Most of what I do now is comp horses- ChayBay and Fried Hacienda reliably win most of the races they enter. I'm training up Shot Stars to replace ChayBay.

@are37, yes, she's pretty easy to get wins with. I've already gotten over 20 wins at such a young age! default smiley :o

I've now determined that Gypsy crosses are not for me. Maybe I went about training one wrong but I have a mare that has proven difficult to win with. So, I have a few gypsy dominant goals up for grabs.

Also, with my Nokota/Criollos, if Tue Crippling breeds stays dominant, I think I could overtake the Trot boards. I'm a long way from taking anything else but Automatic came in 3rd in Trot when I checked this morning. I'm hoping his sister (whom I will blip and breed him too) will take 2nd. If not, then their foal.
Well this is a fun mix of breeds.. Slow Dive

Should do nicely in XC though?

Into The Darkness certainly has not failed to please me. She should very easily take the #1 Crio jump spot once she is beached, as she is about 200 total GP higher than the current #1 jump Crio and about 40 GP (jumping) higher.

Wow first of all good job for your first real cross!! Super impressive!! Hopefully she'll make a good cross country horse!!

If you wanted to raise speed a little in her foals, you could add Mustang to keep stam as well. Otherwise any of the speed dom breeds would suffice!

The new kid. He and his twin wont make #1, but they should at least end up being #3 or #4 irish hunter when theyre done!
By Retired breeder, 19th October 2016 21:56:59
Oh boy, I love my new twins.
Here's one of the two; Legacy. It's been a pretty well planned project, but I'm still impressed by their skills; it'll be so much fun to train!
By Retired breeder, 19th October 2016 21:58:33

Awesome! Good luck, schmexy! Can't wait to see how they turn out!

By Retired breeder, 20th October 2016 01:15:10

Hahaha. I will endeavor to be patient. Maybe they'll be done when I come back from vacation in mid-November.

I posted earlier about a new set of twins... well, it just so happened that I had a Nyx Pack from an HoP a while back. And I just finished the bolding project, I'm really shocked at how well it went. Legacy

AHHHHH. Obviously, nowhere near the top rankings, since she's a KWPN, but... wow.
By Retired breeder, 20th October 2016 05:14:37
@Candy3015, she has amazing stats, congrats. default smiley :) Also, I love her coat and background.
