Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

With Croissant(that name makes me hungry) you could possibly get a nice stamina skill foal depending on how you go about it. So, you could maybe breed to a good stamina GP cross that will throw you a foal whose breed is normally not that great at stamina if that makes sense? Such as finding a high stamina GP KWPN cross or something since that breed is lower in stamina.

Without planning it out myself I'm not sure off hand if you'd have to breed her to a higher stamina stallion first before you continued on.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do with her? I totally forgot what I was going for.
if you wanted to increase speed/dressage/jump you could add KWPN, Selle, or even Morgan!

Shh... Rainy has her stamina KWPNs. Lol. If you wanted to do Paso stamina, though, it is really easy. I have #1 with a non-Teared BLUP.

When she gets older I would enter her in Show Jumping, since her higher skills are speed, dressage and jumping. Hope I could help.default smiley (y)

So the test foal I did with Machine and Soul turned out a Walker dominant. Would that change if I were to flip their genders?
I just crossed a Thoroughbred and a KWPN and got twins here is a link to one:

Okay sorry but I'm still confused on the whole dominant breeds thing.

If I breed a 50/50 KWPN mare (with Selle listed as her last breed) to a 50/50 Selle stallion (with KWPN listed as his last breed), will the resulting foal be Selle?

Yes. The foal would be Selle.
Thank you Rain!!

What would be the best way for me to have a horse excelling at speed, stamina, and gallop while being TB-dominant?

Just finished rewatching Secretariat and I'm itching to make a horse like that.

I'd say TB x Mustang x Marwari x Paint, maybe? Or trying replacing Marwari with Gypsy or Arab.
Any way I could do it with a 50/50 cross?

If you're not picky about which order the skills are in, try Thoroughbred and Arabian.

Sorry for double post, but I'm not really sure.

Since the foal takes 50% of everything from each parent, yes, the foal would have the highest percentage QH breed, so it will be QH dominate.

Looks like you can get that skill set as your top 3 by breeding a Mustang to a Thoroughbred. Though even with the top GP of each breed your stamina will only be around 1200 but you'll have nice speed and gallop

Use top TB public covers on any of these mares: Mustang, Fjord, or Crio. You could use a crossbred mare that was Gypsy x Crio or Fjord x Gypsy. With all but Mustangs, you have a change Dressage would be in the top three.

You can estimate your foal's skills. Just look at the genetics tab of a mare you want to breed and find the highest TB public cover and look at his genetics tab. Add each skill's genetics together for both horses then divide by 2. That will give you a close estimate of what you'll likely get.

If you breed a TB/Marwari or TB/Gypsy, I have a Paint/Mustang mare that I would allow you to send a covering to for the 4-way. She will be finished in a couple of days.
Hopefully folks see this the 2nd time around, since I asked before and got nowhere.

So...I picked this mare up as a pass horse, but since she's still young and 100 blup...I'd like some suggestions. I don't really breed for anything specific, I already bred her for raising the top skills, and for raising the lowest skill.

Or, if anyone wants a foal out of her, just say the word.

Wanda

On top of that, I finished my 1st two crosses in my current group. I'll fully bold her and breed the mare twice, but as usual if a foal is wanted from her, just ask. She was fun/easy to do.

French

And the stud I finished...

Wrong Turn

Hopefully soon I can jump in GP, but I only work so many since so many collect dust lol can't retire em if they're not in use. I go by date of birth on these guys instead of GP, so it's random.
