Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I bred this little girl (and her twin) out of this girl that Union bred for me a while back. That mare held ranks for about a month. She's looking pretty good, but i totally screwed up and thought i was hitting the play button and clicked on age and confirm.... but anyway, i'm planning on breeding her back to a Marwari to try for the boards again. sorry for the length...

The mother of the foals does not matter at this point. If the breed lineup on the mare that will be bred next is Gypsy Vanner first and Quarter Horse second and she's bred to her twin of the same breeds then yes - you will be able to breed Quarter Horse dominant foals from the pair

Would someone please remind me how a four way works? I blindly bred my Nokota/Criollo to a cross in the public offers. The stallion turned out TB/KWPN.
I got a GV, Sorry if I don't understand

I believe the foal will take the stallion's 2nd breed. In this case KWPN

Do you a link to the horse(s)? I can't find a 50/50 cross like that or a GV dominant in your production.

I have Sparrow who you're more than welcome to use. He'll throw a Gypsy dominant foal if bred with another 50/50 with no similar breeds if I remember correctly.

If your horse is 50% of each and you breed to a stallion that is 50/50 two other breeds, the foal will come out dominate of whatever is listed second on the sire's genetics tab.

You have this QH cross
Thoroughbred 50.0 %
Quarter Horse 50.0 %

Which you breed to this QH cross mare.
Quarter Horse 50.0 %
Gypsy Vanner 50.0 %

And gave you QH dominate foals, which of course it would.

You have a sibling to the second one above (Gypsy Vanner 50.0 % x Quarter Horse 50.0 %) that shows one covering, but I don't see the resulting foal. Did you safe haven the foal?

So yes, if you bred the two gypsy x qhs you have together, with the mare having GV listed second on the genetics tab as it does, you will get a Gypsy dominate foal. If you bolt both horses and breed them together, then you will get a QH dominate foal since your other GV x QH has QH listed second.

So if mare is:
Quarter Horse 50.0 %
Gypsy Vanner 50.0 %

And stallion is:
Gypsy Vanner 50.0 %
Quarter Horse 50.0 %

Then foal will be Gypsy dominate.

- - -

If Mare is:
Gypsy Vanner 50.0 %
Quarter Horse 50.0 %

and Stallion is:
Quarter Horse 50.0 %
Gypsy Vanner 50.0 %

Then the foal will be QH dominate.

If I breed Machine to Soul, the skill set would be the same, right? What breed would be dominant in the foal?
Yeah the skill set would the same!!

My guess would be Crio if it follows the rule of taking the sire's second listed breed, like you would if the mare was 50x50. I would do a test breed while you're finishing blupping.

Skill set should stay the same.

Westernsky- Thank you. Wanted to make sure my skill set wouldn't be compromised somehow.

I don't know what to cross Volcano with anymore. She's the second half Thoroughbred, half Criollo I've done.
These are her offspring and here are the offspring of the previous one.
Does anyone have suggestions for something new to cross her with? default smiley :)

I bred this Criollo/GV/TB a while back that did pretty well. If you feel like a challenge, you could try creating that cross as a GV dominant foal and crush the GV speed board

That would be fun to try!! I've never done well on rankings. But I'll try that once the GP of my horses gets higher, which will happen one day! default smiley xd.
I'm planning on switching to Croissant after Volcano dies. Do you think she'll be able to make any foals that could get placed high in a ranking? (I know she's still not good enough herself, but I would hope her foals would be!)
