Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

@Starry97 oooooo I might try that.

Does anyone know how to work out which skill will come out top when breeding and by how much?
By Retired breeder, 17th March 2016 14:18:37
Well, here he is, the first of AllMySecrets progeny KeeperOfSecrets

I'm sure there is, I just don't remember who may have it. I look at the skills and compare each to the other.

Going to buy a really nice kwpn mare in a bit, and recommendations for a cross? I'm potentially thinking for the prix or at the very least a show jumping monster. If anyone wants a cover from her after I get her let me know and I'll bolt her.

Any responses to my KeeperOfSecrets or /[urlhttp://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=47737027]CoolerThanMe?[/url] Don't know what to make of them.. do I bolt them and use them as a brood mares, bolt one? Geld both? Or train them and see what I get?
I'm planning on doing a perfect 3-way cutting skiller with Vanners, Appies, and Lusis... what do you guys think of these as breeds?

default smiley (li) Gr! My horse has only won 10 comps total. Why do these take so long?! My poor little self just wants to cross already. :-(

I'll keep that in mind, thanks! I may want to add a gallop breed into my project later on.

You would have relatively low speed and stamina, since only 1 of those breeds has high stamina and speed (Vanner and Appie, respectively). Dressage would be high up there but since stamina is the most important skill, you might want to consider something throwing in something with higher stamina.

HI, how are you guys
By Retired breeder, 17th March 2016 23:18:08
Hey. ^-^ Not too bad. Just working on a few new foalies. Trying to plan on what to do next. Got two new ones today, both colts though unfortunately.
So Quick Silver's training has been going a bit slower then I would like. I think I took the wrong route in comp BLUPing. I should have comped him in Trot racing instead of western pleasure. I forgot that Gypsies are already good at western pleasure. :/

On the bright side, He was Ranked in Speed(255 place!) and Gallop for Gypsy Vannors today. I can't wait to see his ranking in Speed tomorrow, because I bolded it today.

He also has over 1000 in 5-6 skills as I predicted! I just hope I can get his comps in.

I love unique names, and I am always checking out the different horses in the comps. Another one that had me laughing a little while back was a horse named "Watch Me Neigh Neigh". XD

Are you planning on bolting him and improving trot or is he the final result? Either way, nicely done! He looks amazing.
Thank you! I plan on keeping him as a stud, and I will finish his trot training eventually. Training in trot and comps are all he has left to be BLUPed. I generally leave the lowest skill un-trained until I have the 20 wins, so I can enter them in the lowest possible comps for easier wins, but I forgot to take into account that he would mostly be competing with other Gypsies and it would have been wiser to use his high speed to his advantage in trot racing. I have not worked with Gypsies much. XD

I really hate working with stamina breeds since I despise western comps. Especially GV's because their specialty is XC but you have to go through and train the bare minimum speed and dressage to win comps in. I kind of want to do a GV cross but I don't know what to make plus I don't have a fully blupped mare.

I have way too many Wari/Arabian mixes that I have concocted during AP farming. They make excellent reining horses! I think I may want to actually make my own with higher GP. Anyone have a purebred high GP Wari stud that's willing to give me a cover for my Arabian? Oooh! I wonder if a GV would work as well as an Arabian since they have the same skillset. default smiley *-)
So many possibilities! I must stay focused on my dressage project though. *mentally scolds myself*
I love working with stamina, speed, and trot breeds... Gallop, jumping, and dressage? Sorry, no for some reason :/

I love working with Stamina horses too, and my whole experiment with Cross Breeding started with trying to put Speed into my Arabians. I ended up forgetting that foal's take on the sires breed in a 50% 50%, so I got an endurance Thoroughbred instead. But she turned out to be a great western horse, so when I started training her son, Quick Silver, I started training him the same way I trained her, forgetting she was an Endurance Thoroughbred and he was a Speed Gypsy. So even though their skills are not that far off, it does make a difference.

I've always worked with Arabians but now they're so irritating! I love working with TB's and KWPN's. Most of my crosses under my affix have those two breeds in them. I'm looking to expand beyond those two breeds though! I have to get used to working with western horses. Even with Wari's, I always put them in classical comps. default smiley (lol) Audrey, do you have any suggestions or project ideas? I kind of want to do a trot project... hm.
Yeah, I am rather new to the western comps myself. I have always trained my Arabians in Classical.
