Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

stallion- I've been breeding Barb unis these past few weeks and I've discovered that they have great Stanima and Dressage. Maybe try breeding her with a 50% Barb, 50% Lusi cross?

Woot! I'm excited, my first experiment in creating the ultimate galloper has turned out to be quite interesting!
Not only did my gallop skills in the lines come through, I actually ended up with great speed and dressage!

My plan was to cross TB's with Appaloosas, then the foal with a QH and then the foal with a Paint. All purebred except for the foals.

EG ~

Appaloosa

This was hopefully going to make ultimate gallopers and barrel racers!
This colt is just a tester, not the final project horse but I am so thrilled with how the experiment has gone.
I mean, 63* from some bloodlines with not so good stars is a triumph in itself haha. I'm still pretty new at all this but I'm happy.

Please tell me what you think guys, what should happen next?
I also desperately need some Philosopher Stones now ><

ClownFish- Thankyou default smiley :)

Mess- I"ve actually had a Barb Uni breeding farm before and they did have some really good stamina potential (:
By Retired breeder, 15th December 2011 03:19:31
stallion- I love Barb unis. They're so rare that even 370 gp ones can sell for upwards of 300k.

I just had an idea for a new affix for my next generation of crosses and I had to make it. I hope my Fear the Ængel crosses upset those rankings.

I just bought a decent Lusitano mare. I'm going to breed a few test foals out of her. Once I decide on one I'll rebreed with tears and sell one of my Barb unis to fund its BLUPing.

Mess- Haha ikr (: I just one day was going through the sales and someone accidently sold a barb uni for 700e so I bought it, and it hit the barb rankings hard and then finally got to the 6th popularity ranking for all of the horses, so I bred him and sold him for 600k (:

WIsh I had time to skill. Have a lovely 402 IBS Lusi filly I want to skill up and then cross with an 80* Fry, but I got no time to sit down and get through the pet games and lessons up to 25YO, :\

Have a 1105 GP Mar filly, though, so I should get started on that gallop Mar cross, default smiley xd

I am thinking that a Aussie/Hano cross would make an amazing showjumper. Just foaled out a nice 67* PB Hano for the Prix. Just need to make sure there are some good Aussie covers out there. My only concern is that I've never worked with a pony breed before, default smiley xd
By Retired breeder, 15th December 2011 10:23:44
Okay scratch that, I'm doing a Shet/Hano cross. Or maybe I'll do an Aussie/Shet cross and then breed that to my Hano filly. Decisions, decisions...and lol, sorry for the triple post.

WOO HOO!!! Another boy! I'm on a roll! LOL

SHOCKWAVE
By Retired breeder, 15th December 2011 17:11:17
@krazyken: I have a TB/Shetland cross mare...not sure if she would produce a Welsh with your stally, but the foal would be a 4 way split with the breeds, and she would definitely improve the speed and stamina:

KABOOM

I also have Ebony Reign, who has good stamina. She's a Frie/Arab/Appy.

By Retired breeder, 15th December 2011 19:26:14
pheabie11 I like your crossbreed looks great too me default smiley :-))
By Retired breeder, 15th December 2011 19:27:13
@George Peorge there's no telling how much a cross will sell for since people tend to stick with purebreds (and not realize how consistently good crossbreds are in comps, lol). A high quality cross with the right skill set will bring in some money, though.
By Retired breeder, 15th December 2011 19:27:38

By Retired breeder, 15th December 2011 19:30:00
