Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Went ahead and bred one of my Lusi/Fry mares to a Fry stud, with Tears. Just need to figure out what kind of combination of Mar/TB I need to get a Mar-dominant horse out of the ultimate cross. Only problem is that my Mars aren't good enough yet to do a 75/25 Mar/TB cross. Grrr.

What I do with a horse that has stamina, jump and dressage as it's top three skills, is actually train in dressage and jump, and then enter cross country comps. since they made the change where XC comps give skill in all the needed skills, you can skip going for jump comps, and you'll actually BLUP faster. And if I have about 35 extra energy with 1 hour 45 minutes left, I do an hour of sloping rides, and then stroke and give turnip.

It's a little weird, but to me no more weird than training a horse for dressage comps and getting wins in dressage.

But I actually have four different training methods, based on top three skills, and I filter my foals to farms for each type, and then put them all together to get their wins and finish their BLUP. The only ones I have a hard time finishing by 10 is anything with dressage, stamina, and a skill other than jump in the top three (gallop, trot, stamina), and that is mainly because they need a hybrid training, and need skills from 2 comp types.

I really need to rough out a training guide for how I do it and put it in my forum.

Going to slowly BLUP this youngster and breed to a Fry/Lusti and hopefully I'll get a Irish Hunter. Of course, I will have to bolt to a stallion.

First attempt with my Arab/Paint/TB line. I like the IBS and the spread of skills. Not too pleased with the GP I ended up with, though. It's slightly less than either of his parents. Ah well. Games will get it up a little more and I'll just have to keep breeding them until I get something better. default smiley xd

This mare I just nabbed to cross to my Paint stud makes me sad, with those nearly nonexistent IBS. I think I can fix her up, though. A Chronos' Timer should help get her BLUPed. I can use her for a good broodmare, then, and she should enhance the GP of the Arab/Paint/TB project nicely.

Xellossnut, Burning Brightly looks really nice! He's going to be amazing once you've got him skilled. Are you keeping him a stud?
yeah I don't typically geld my cross's. But he won't be sending out covers for a long time. He has Gp on both sides of his parents that hasn't been released in the game yet.

He should make you some awesome foals, then. I just love what you've got with that cross!
hehe I also very rarely breed my cross's. They are bred mostly for rankings and annoying other people in the rankings.

But once GP gets released then I can offer coverings to people that would like something like him at certain points.

Woohoo! Pretty happy person at the moment.

Just bred this little devil.

Lineage is a little messy but hey, not too bad if you ask me. What do you guys think? (Notice: not bred with tears)
By Retired breeder, 19th November 2011 18:03:29
@Fairydust not this one, sorry. Gonna skill her up while working on my purebred Mar breeder line and my Mar/TB crosses. Really hoping a 75/25 Mar/TB and a 75/25 Fry/Lusi will give me a Mar-dominant horse, default smiley xd
Thank you Rorhi. Your advice helped. After a fully BLUP my male I plan to give coverings on him. Hopefully I can get him to 100 BLUP by 10 years. I haven't BLUPped a horse from foal to 100 BLUP for around a year I think. Should be a fun chalenge.
