Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

The stars are good, especially the skills! FOUR already filled in dressage?
By Retired breeder, 15th May 2010 20:56:12
lol, i used a 24* 1100 skilled arab to breed him, hence the dressage.
I bred for trot, didnt come out as good as i wanted..
By Retired breeder, 15th May 2010 20:57:15
Well...arabians aren't that 'special' in dressage. lol default smiley xd

Yes! I just made a cross affix! I didn't want to sell my foals before I got my affix on them.default smiley (lol)My affix is 'of Simply Crossed'. Already I have it on quite a few horses! Also my mare just had a pretty 50 standie/25 arab/25 newfie cross whom I named Simplicity. I was happ to see she got two trot stars as her mom had none but the mom's gallop has dissappeared dramatically in her filly.default smiley *-)Guess I bred to high gallop next then? I am trying to get an all * foal that isn't friesian dominant.

Carnival - I PMed you. default smiley ;)
Sunny, I have also managed six-skillers in Paint, Appaloosa, Arabian, and Hunter. It's not difficult, but the GP tends to be very low and they don't get much attention. Check my of Stars Everywhere! affix to see what they look like.

I dumped a *ton* of crosses into the auctions and private sales yesterday, most of which have significantly high GP and skills (I am not getting rid of "rejects", just trimming down the 200+ herd to a more manageable level), and yet it's the smattering of purebreds I put in that are getting most of the bidding action. Looks like we haven't yet broken down that barrier.

I would bid. But I'm under 10 days, and don't have enough equus.
By Retired breeder, 15th May 2010 23:48:37
hi, i used to do quater horse, throughbred crosses with a dab of mustang. i'm going to star doing this again, but i need some good breeding partners. anyone? just pm me!
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 00:31:32
I agree Cryfenril no crosses ever seem to sell and if they do its alaways for a very low pricedefault smiley :( More people need to realize how much better they are than purebred horses.
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 01:15:56
I was going to try selling some of mine but I don't know how well they will sell.default smiley *-)
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 01:28:09
zepharo's go for pretty high prices...I've seen them before...well...when they sell. But other wise, on my old account, I never saw crosses go for over 2 passes.
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 01:39:54
Zepharo's probably sell a bit better because she is a MOD. Overall people are recognizing crosses more I think. I sold a shetland cross for 5,000e the other day.
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 01:46:11
What helps me to sell my crosses is when I give them a little training. Right now I am training the horses I bred to sell in their dressage and speed. When those bars are done I put them up for sale. And then I sold a 18* Tb/QH stallion who was fully blupd but not completely done in training or fully bolded for 18k.
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 01:46:41
And they have high skills, who cares if shes a mod or not? If she tried to sell a cross with like 26 stars with high skills for like 10,000e and 6 passes, no one would accept.
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 02:28:17
This is my newest cross who I would be BLUPing but she cant have arms yet and I cant afford a nyx packdefault smiley :@ Here she is
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 02:37:37
Good horse itunes. default smiley (y)
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 02:38:53
Oh, I didn't mean to make it sound bad. I just meant some people are more popular than others so it is a bit different. I also have an unfortunate knack of posting ads in the negotiations with titles that don't draw attention. I am getting some of my babies through the games and then if they don't sell I will start training too.default smiley :)I posted a topic in my forum for cross breed sales too.
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 02:39:41
Thanks I plan on her being BLUPed by tomorrow. What do you think I should breed her to?
