Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I'm really angry right now (Me-default smiley :@). I bought a crossbred colt from the Auctions to resell, and nobody wanted him! Luckily, Dusty gave me inspiration for Crayons Crossbreeding, as they are mixed up just like all the different colours in a Crayon packet! Dusty is going to be a good breeding stallion-he's going to gain a 3rd Dressage star in a couple of days! He's ultra-crossbred, he's a cross between Quarter Horse, Standardbred, Irish hunter, Paint Horse and Thoroughbred!

Crossbreds are hard to sell at the best of times, I've stopped breeding to sell because of this even though all my crossbreds have been bred with tears and hit the top 10 on elite boards. The crossbreds I've looked at in your breeding farm are not bred from full blup parents, or bred with tears so their ibs is very low... this is the reason no one is interested in buying them.
By Retired breeder, 13th May 2010 19:16:45
I find that my fully blupped crosses sell very well, I don't often put any of them up for sale though. lol
It is sad that the foals don't sell very well because they could be great horses once blupped but a lot of breeders just don't recognize that until they see a fully blupped comps winner cleaning up on the comps boards. I have 2 fillies that are on their 2nd trip through the auctions with 0 bids. That's just how it goes, I have come to expect this over the last year and few months that I have been breeding crosses. No worries though because the amount of equus these crosses bring in from comps more then makes up for the loss of equus from sales. default smiley :-))

I have sold some of my crosses successfully but I am now mainly breeding to skill up and keep. Like zepharo said, they more than earn enough money in the comps and some of my crosses are even doing quite well with covering offers.

I dont' think I have ever sold one of the crosses I have bred.

I usually have a purpose for them and when they have done their job, namely running my comps and making me some money, They at least give me back one pass I put into them as I dont' make any immortal.

I just bred my newest cross.

Nothing fancy, just getting rid of the Arab/Paint influence to keep this gallop high without having a full bred.

I have sold my a colt. I was surprised as he wasnt even bred with tears and I got 17000 and an EW out of him.
I've been able to sell a few of my crosses but for the most part I keep them to myself. I did sell a top 10 mare to Clem for 150k? She just couldn't resist default smiley (b) but now I'm trying to sell a 75/25% TB/Arab and not even a nibble at 79k......with over 150 wins default smiley xd it surprises me to say the least lol

Sad how unpredictable they are default smiley xd

Ozrider-if you decide to sell one pm me please! They are wonderful!
By Retired breeder, 13th May 2010 22:22:25
It's the foals I struggled to sell, even with one of the foals twin been ranked no.1 for stamina and having nearly 239 ibs! and 24*'s to boot. I won't sell the fully blupped and bolded one's, their all MINE default smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 13th May 2010 22:24:39
Wow. Great horses. I don't think I will sell any crosses to any outsiders for a while, except my breeding partners, but that is another story.
By Retired breeder, 13th May 2010 22:34:53
Im about to start blupping my chinco mixie.
Will be no1 for chinco dressage =D
Congrats! I'm still slowly working What's Dun is Dun to top TB stamina. He's 3rd right now but I'm in no hurry. Doesn't seem like to many players do Anglos or TB dominant crosses that could knock him down a peg default smiley :)

My arabian mare is pregnant with a foal who's father is my paint stally. I will put a link to the foal when it is born.
By Retired breeder, 13th May 2010 23:48:01
I am looking for a stally to breed my newfie/arab to but I am not sure what breed to go with. I would like it to be a 50/50 cross with 20* or more though. Anyone have one I can use?
My stallion What's Dun is Dun is 50/50 TB/Arabian default smiley :). 21 * to boot

I breed Peruvian Crosses. They are fabulous and crosses with peruvian's are fun to do. I really do suggest people starting them. They are not as competitive as other breeds and are for laid back players. Come look at my horses and you'll see why they are fun.
By Retired breeder, 14th May 2010 01:34:23
Jamesgoober007- Love the name and the foal!

Q- I would love a covering from What's Dun is Dun!default smiley :-))Very nice stally you got there. The mare's name is Simply Complicated.
