Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Great horses. My first cross is still alive. He is under the affix 'of Golden Victory'. His name is Cloud. Or was, I don't know if his new owner changed it.

What do you mean? Crossbreed?
My very first crossbreeding experiment was actually an accident - and to this day I still sell covers from him on a regular basis.

Granted, Big Blue Boi's GP is rather small by today's standards, but there is still such a dearth of six-skilled studs up for grabs that he gets attention despite his antiquity.

He is a direct ancestor for the vast majority of my Frie-cross babies - any horse that has the affix "of The Big Blue Line" can be traced back to his mother, Blue Princess (who is a Hano, and still gives me pretty foals). I hope he's proud of himself, heh heh heh!

Frie/Hano gives a ridiculously easy one-generation six-skill mix, but that horribly low GP makes it tough to really get the kids to shine, so I have been working on a longer but more sustainable route - throwing in Hunter for GP and to re-boost the dressage, Paint to correct that slow speed, and a little Arabian for stamina. Adam and Eve aren't quite six-skill on their own, but their foals will be.

Clem, I bred my Paint cross, Rubenesque Beauty (so named because she spent the first five years of her training chronically overweight, lol) to your handsome fella there, and am anxious to see what happens!

Here's the colt I just bred:Rosalind's Knight
I have two ongoing crossbreeding projects. I breed "Painted Quartaloosas" which are Paint/Appy/QH (and of course I have several combos of the three but the ultimate is when all three are combined) and I also have my "Sweet Sixteens" which are a perfectly even mix of 16 breeds. I started it not caring about GP, Skills, etc. and just wanted to get the even mix. Now I'm working on slowly raising the GP in that area. Here's my newest baby, Sixteen Candles.

I'm also beginning that project again with high GP horses to see what the results look like. I'm excited, but it's going to be a long process of breeding and training to get there.

That's really cool about the Sweet Sixteens spanishroses! I'll have to take a look at them.

My latest project who I can't take credit for breeding (he was a gift from my Welsh breeding partners, some of whom also do Shetlands) is a Welsh/Shetland who is currently #1 in Jump Skills for Welsh, and he should make #1 overall. He's 20 years old with 5 POCs used, so 15 more POCs to go.
