Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I'm thinking of maybe cross breeding but there are two things I'm worried about:

1. Would people buy crossbreeds?
2. How do you get enough aging points? I've used 60 odd in a week and now only have about 30
Indeed Congrats Ozrider!

Ok so I just started (fairly recently) with breeding cross-breds - so here's some of the top ones

My Canadian Cross - Dontcha Wish - My very first board hitter default smiley :)

My first Newfie Cross - Dox's MagicalDesire - While she will never see the spotlight of a board hit, she's a super little cross!

My next Newfie Cross - Impressive Visage - Made a sound impact on the Newfie boards but then, when you fully cloud, it's hard to miss such... I especially like the fact that while a Newfie-Cross, it still helps a bit as an EC booster with the strong dressage skill default smiley :)

Finally, my newest cross and something really different for me.. a Mustang-Cross
Somethin' Different

Yes, I have to say I'm pretty well hooked on doing Crosses default smiley :)

@smithy23 - Interesting questions and so here's my view on them .. mileage may vary from player to player default smiley :)

1) Yes, there are others who will buy a cross-bred, although it is not as prominent as the purebreds. Same applies to covers.

2) I have a vast crew of horses that I dubbed "The Motley Crew" - I've found that when I work a bunch of them, the aging points come. Some are found, some are generated by having worked them the previous day. Naturally, I also tend to go through many aging points when filling for my team members default smiley :)

smithy23 the main reason I cross breed is to get an amazing comp horse. Most of the time a cross will beat the purebreds (if crossed right).

I don't normally sell any of my crosses but i'm sure that with the amount of people who have been commenting in this forum you'd find someone who would be willing to purchase one.

I don't think that I will ever breed a purebred now as I just love the challenge of my crosses.

I've sold several of my crosses. Some for equus only and some for passes. I've sold a few of my leaderboard crosses for over 5 passes and others for over 100,000e. It just depends on if someone wants a horse for its rankings or for their breeding. Also I have noticed selling 100 BLUP horses is much easier, even if the foals will eventually rank/compete better than the adults, and the more bonuses the better price you can fetch lol.

With regards to selling crossbreds, ive got one of my crossbred foals reserved for someone for 5000e + 4 passes.....if the horse is good at the buying is interested enough then you can get a decent price on em default smiley :)

This is the horse

^^ 2+ stars in *every* category
I still haven't hit any boards. Does anyone know where I can buy/trade for MA to BLUP faster?

I´m crossbreeding to make a breed better, after that I breed them several generations until they´re PUREbred again, this takes a while thoughdefault smiley :p

I really like to cross:

Arab X Friesian

Arab X Thoroughbred

Arab X Quarter Pony

Newfies with all kinds of breeds hahadefault smiley (a)

The Arabs bring some good GP, Stars and Skills to the breeds with less gp for now..
So I like to bring that up and get a good howrse out of that!

People just buy them, so I don´t worry, as long as you use highest possible GP horses from both breed you get a real good one!default smiley (y)default smiley (l)
here's my latest chinco... not so good but, will make an ok comp horse
Whoa Oh!

Izzy I believe the term for your kind of breeding is outcrossing. A long time ago some of the breeding teams that specialized in upping a specific skill did that. From my understanding of the coding there is a "wall" that will block it from flipping top skills so it is (in my mind) almost a waste of passes to try for it but I have seen some decent horses with skill specific breeding. I wish you luck with it default smiley (y)

vag111 hitting the boards is both a skill and a bit of luck. If you go for multiple crosses then you must carefully watch which breed does what to each skill and have a purpose for each cross before moving on with the breedings. If you do 50/50 it tends to be the "easiest" way to hit the boards but can also cause your "board hitter" to fall off of the charts as soon as someone else feels the urge for the same cross. I love all sorts of crosses, it shows the unique strategies from all of the different breeders. To me it's much more fun to watch a crossbreeder at work than one that breeds top purebreds default smiley :p

do you have any suggestions for which cross i should start with? i want to try to do some cross breeding. here are some of the crosses i think will go well together.
arab&hano
arab&RDH
Arab&IH
Arab&(hano&RDH)
hano&RDH
Friesian&IH
which of these is the simplest for a beginner?
please post here i'll check here when every i can every half hour or sodefault smiley :d

A lot of those crosses have been done, lots of them require lots of hard work and equus - make sure you have lots of equus if you want GOOD crosses. What I would suggest is either starting with the arab and hano or the arab and irish hunter.

For the arab&hano&russian don, I would suggest on waiting until you have more experience, to get the balance and train the horses. But that's great for the future. default smiley (y)

I am envious pinto girl katz, very very envious lol but I will turn my head away & head in a different direction, whe I first started on the game my plan was to breed an all star horse (hopefully before everyone else) at the time most people hated crossbreds, they even used to buy them from the sales to sell it to the safe haven..

so now instead I just breed high starred crossbreds & strangely I like the v3 thoroughbred images, I never liked the thoroughbreds but I do now & use their skills extensively to improve in speed & gallop..

yes theres still a little spark of that all starred horse floating around in my personal breeding, eventually I want an all starred xbred Arabian, just because I like Arabians in real life lol
