Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I've been doing good. Quite happy with how my game's been going since I came back. More or less still plugging along with my line projects. Got myself back up on leaderboards again (will link those horses if you want).

Yes! Link 'em away!

In looking through what I had lazying around, I came across this Aussie cross that Gouldi bred for me over a year ago. She's such a cute cross. I think she pretty much just needs aged now?
I have a thing for appliance oriented coats too, so, hehehehe.

PoA = Pony of the Americas default smiley ^)

The crossbreed actually started by accident when a Shetland stallion bred with an Arab/Appaloosa mare. The owner liked the foal so much, that they then began breeding the crossbreed in ernest and started the Pony of the Americas Club.

In Howrse, it appears ShopkinLover and I both decided to use App stallion x Arab/Shetland mare so that the foal would have Appaloosa coat options, as the true crossbreed should. default smiley ;) Other acceptable, more minor influences for this crossbreed include Thoroughbred, Welsh, and Mustang.

Hey crossbreeders!

I have a quick, 4 question survey I would like to send to you for your answers. If you are interested, please private message me for it. The questions are about your general interest in crossbreeding, what breeds you are interested in, and specific goals.

I'm trying to put together a list of any common projects within the crossbreeding community. I plan on summarize this info and sending it back to the respondents. My hope is to help some of us partner up on projects, find cooperative supporters (covers, etc.), and create some friendly competition among us. default smiley ^)

Much thanks! default smiley (l)

Hello! I am new here but one of my goals is to breed a horse with 1000 skills in each skill if you know what I mean. So I started breeding horses and have come across KPWN/Freisian breeding and I am wondering which horse should I add next. Should I add some Gypsy for the stamina? Thanks so much. default smiley (y)

Are you looking for the *skills* to get over 1000 once you've finished training it, or for each GP to get over 1000?

For either goal I would recommend breeding with 100 blup or 70 minimum parents. 100 Blup if you're going for skills so the foal will be born with more to start out.

@Legacy Ann

I am trying to get one thousand in each GP, it has been my goal since 2010 when I first joined. default smiley (y)

Gotcha. For that I recommend creating a spreadsheet to map out your plan, which is what I did for the same project. You'll get a better idea of what genetics you'll need to add to balance out what you already have. It's like playing on a teeter totter.

In using that particular horse you'll want to start bringing up trot and speed. If you added a purebred Gypsy to that mix you will bring up stamina but you won't bring up trot or speed much since the breed is pretty poor in those two stats. It depends how you want to approach that project though.

Well, my Selle/Crios have started with this guy and his Bolted twin. Just have to get one BLUPed in the next week or so to cross to one of my Crio/KWPNs to start my Crio/KWPN/Selle line. I also have a couple other Selle/Crios that didn't have as high a jump ratio if anyone wants them.

I've been trying to work towards getting the GP above 1000 for each skill set in my crossbreeds. I try and stay away from KWPN or Gypsy Vanner because they bore me, but it never works out lol. If anyone has any horses with 1000 in each skill set I would pay good money for a filly!

Hmmm what does everyone think for a Selle/Paint cross? I really want a paint horse but with the skills of a selle/KWPN/etc.

Hi everyone! Wow it's been a long time since I've posted here. I think almost two years! I still recognize some faces, I hope you all are doing well! Since I am very rusty, I was wondering if anyone has any projects kicking around? I honestly don't even know where to begin anymore lol! I need to get back in the run of things! I've always loved competition horses, so if anyone has any of those kicking around please let me know!

Looking foreword to being back with you all! default smiley (y)

Bestie! Hello! I should have some sort of fun thing in a few days. Maybe a speedy Noko for you (though I can't afford Tears right now).
By Retired breeder, 3rd November 2016 07:25:28
Hey KR! Gah it's been forever! There's so many new breeds, and my God the skills and GP everyone is at is crazy! I'm so overwhelmed lol. I don't think I've ever dabbled in Nokos before! That's okay, I just need something to play with so I can mess around. I've been checking sales but am not seeing anything lol
