Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

That's just how the pages are coded. The five displayed breeds always add up to 100%, even if in reality the horse is an even mix of all the existing breeds.

Depends on what exactly are you trying to achieve? Best jumper of certain breed or just a good jumper in general?

In any case, you may want to look into boosting the speed skill a bit. Adding Selle Francais to the mix should help there.

Just a good jumper, and with jump skills ending up higher than dressage. I listed the horses I was planning on using and gave a more detailed explanation of my plan on the last page.

Ok, for just overall good jumper I don't really know what to say. Everything seems to lose to pure Selles default smiley (lol)
I'd suggest you just carry on with your current plans and see where that takes you.

Maybe someone else has something more useful to say default smiley ;)

If you want higher jump than dressage then I suggest using Selle.

KWPNS - dressage, jump, speed
Selles - jump, speed, dressage

It depends on where you'd like your speed to end up.

I was already planning on using Selle blood to finish off. I was just wondering if anyone had any alternative breeds that I didn't look at, but I'll just keep going then!

Have you checked out Shetlands at all? I'm not sure how high their GP is but I think they have a skillset similar to Selles. I don't think any breed is superior to Selles, though, so it may not be worth it unless there's a skillset disparity.

I always think of the ponies!

Unfortunately it has gotten really difficult to get good pony breeding stock.

Now you've said that I kinda want to get into breeding ponies. But the competitions are overrun with all the horses, and I am looking for nice easy BLUPs now, so not entirely sure which pony breeds would be considered *easy* to BLUP. Pony crosses sound fun!

Also, this is the first time I've ever got to 1.3 million equus without splashing out on a ridiculous shiny. Yay!

Aging pass horses will be the death of me. default smiley (zzz)

for anyone interested in pony crosses, here are my lovely connemara crosses for reference:

Connemara / KWPN
Connemara / Selle
Connemara / Australian Pony

The medium difficulty X-Country crushers version 1 and version 2, my Altair was also transformed from a similar connemara cross.

I'm thinking of doing something with Highland Ponies soon...

Speaking of ponies I have a Fjord foundie that I want to start making a cross with and see where it will take me.

Forgot to add anyone have a good idea of what to cross her with. Not going for anything specific just seeing what I can get out of her

Those are sold as geldings only.
Statistically, Shetlands are better in jump AND Dressage than Selles.

Who knew?default smiley :o

I'm sorry, not dressage! *smacks head*

I wonder what a three way between a Selle, KWPN and Shetland would look like?

Working on that actually lol gimme about a week or so

Likely a well-rounded jump cross. Shetlands have better jump but less speed and dressae; Selles have higher speed; and KWPNs have higher dressage.

Actually I think Aussies would be better than Shetlands. They have higher all 3 than Shetlands.
