Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Just bred a mare with 113 comps wins to a stud with over 300 wins. Hoping for a comp monster or just a little nice cross baby!

Competition wins of the parents doesnt necessarily mean the foal will be lucky like that in comps default smiley ;)

I'm working on crosses between Arabs and Connies, any tips?
By Retired breeder, 30th April 2010 01:31:23
Hehe default smiley :p

Abbsolute - Good crossies to start breeding. They both have similar genetics too default smiley :d
Abbsolute: Arabs are good for crossing with Connies as long as the Connie is the dominant (meaning the father). You'll see a much bigger improvement in connemara gp skills when you breed to the highest gp arab in public covers.

Abbsolute depending on what the breed you want the foal listed as make sure the father is that breed. I bough female arabians and bred them all to male connies so they are listed as connies. Does anyone know how will this affect me down the line? What would the foals be listed as from the 50/50 connie crossings? Pröúd Øñè 687.08 of the Mixed Bloods just got all her wins today if you want a covering in the future. Does anyone got schedule for training connies that don't tell you to train trotting? I can't find a program I like because my horse like to pull fast ones on be and be good at things I did not train them for. She was not suppose to be good at jumping but was and if I trained her in trotting she would not have gotten most of her wins. I find it easier sometimes to skip rides all together. The popular schedules seem to only work for the top horses. I know they would never work for a foundation. So what do you guess do if your horses has skills that would not make it good at something the purebreds would be?

bluetempest - I use the same schedule for all horses. After games, do short trots until you can train. Then do Dressage (should have finished by age 3) and then Speed. whenever you get a ToG, drop whatever training and only do competitions while you have it. The only skills you need to train in before you gets wins is Speed and Dressage.
