Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

what skill (or skills) did you want to emphasize that usually helps to figure it out
Brooke - Let me just say... IH dominate IHxArabs are easier to get wins for, imo.

What is the best cross to breed? Im re starting with cross breeding
Depends on what you're trying for. If you're look for GP and skills overall, IHxArabs were the first crosses to get 18-21*, if my sources are correct. If you're looking for a comp monster, you need to pick a competition and breed for the skills for that.

Well, my sister and me decided to breed our Fri/Morgan to an STB/Arab that was in public covers.

I put a hera pack on and was surprised to get Arab dominant in the cross:

Arab/STB/Frisian/Morgan cross

We are elated the twins came out arab AND as fillies! No having to scrounge for a zeus bolt now!

This is good since 5 skills made 1 star. I'm sure we can work on getting the gallop up to a star with breeding.

I just produced my second Newfie/Arab cross and I am pretty happy with the results. I am still thinking of names for him but here he is.default smiley ^)
My Colt
Tell me what you think of him! He would have higher stars but my 22* wasn't ready to breed so I used a 20* arabian and a 17* Newfie pony. My next one should turn out even better.default smiley :)

Thanks. Sunny, he looks great.default smiley :) I'll try Barrel Racing, but I'm not a big fan of it because Western tack costs more and it takes more energy usually.
I almost always put tacks packs on my crosses that I don't plan on selling. default smiley (lol)

I just got a tack pack from a star yesterday. The only good thing I got though. The rest was just turnips and apples.default smiley :( I am hoping for an arms so I can BLUP one of my crosses.
By Retired breeder, 23rd April 2010 00:33:14
okay I got this newfie paint cross and i'm not sure if I should usemy nyx pack on him so can anyone give me sugestions? here he is!
I personally don't put nyx packs/arms and timer on horses that weren't bred with tears. I did when I first started, but then realized I was better off saving them for the best horses.

Ok I guess I'll go find tears for my next mare.
If the horse will still do well in comps, then a nyx pack will probably be worth using. I can't really say, because I only work with certain breeds and don't know much about the others.

If anyone is looking for BLUP'd crosses, I'm selling one of every breed, they are in my Emerald Sport tab and they are the one's without my affix. Feel free to PM me about a foal or BLUPing horse as well.default smiley :) Have some great comp horses (100-450+ wins) and elites.
