Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Try Arabians. Arabians are excellent for XC

Hey itunes, I can give you a few suggestions tomorrow (I have to get off now). I've got a chart that I made that helps me a lot when determining what horses are best to mix for certain traits. But yeah, off the top of my head, as Forest Queen said, Arabs are great cross country horses.

3 pages gone by before I answer.
yes RoseBlood, I am sure I can fit your mare into his schedule at some point. default smiley ;)
itunes-I agree-paints mixed with arabs are great at xc...or mixed with canadians...check out my "super cross" tab...most of my crosses are those two mixes.

My newest crossbred
Here's my tb foal..extremely decent IBS and it's the best foal I've gotten so far (considering it came from a crossbred I bred myself).

If I wanted to make a barrel horse (low speed/high gallop) what kind of cross do I breed her to?
Vegas Mama at 5 years

So far she is one of the funniest of my crosses to play with. This is the mare that had 235% IBS when she was born. She still has over 30 comps left to run!

NuttyBird - You could try a Friesian/TB cross. The right one would pull down the speed while keeping the gallop up.

Me too. I love that dressage is the second best skill. I bet once gallop is bolded, she will be a great barrel racer.

Just produced a six-skilled Frie foal, 737 pre-games GP and 16 stars. Am a little excited.

Just barely a five-way cross; that Paint just about didn't make it!

It is fun that the dressage is the 2nd highest skill lol. Though I'm usually to lazy to compete my horses once they are bolded and BLUP'd

I know what you mean. Although I would love to see one of my crosses make the rankings for number of wins, so I have a bit of motivation to age and compete them.

Perhaps Vegas could get there for you? I know that you actually use her haha, at least enough to get her up to 8th in Stamina default smiley :p. If I wasn't so lazy......but I am o_O hehe

I am thinking about using PoCs for the very first time. Blue Majik has the potential to hit three of the elite rankings if I use a full 20 clouds on her (stamina, dressage, and total skills).

Is there anything to be gained by doing this with her, aside from bragging rights? That's an awful lot of passes to use on one horse, and I have never really thought about it seriously before. Then again, I have never had a horse with as much potential as she has before either...

Any of the pro crossers have some advice on this dilemma?

Shhhh, Forest! Don't let our evil plan out! >:U

Cryfenril - I've never fully clouded a horse pure or crossed and today marks it being a year since I first ever signed up here. >> I have still produced many horses that got on the boards/had the potential to get on the boards so I never really had any desire to. If you'd like her to have a few days to a week of fame, go for it.

I have had multiple horses hit the boards for a single skill, but she is the first that would have multiple skills at once. I just can't seem to make up my mind as to whether or not it would be worth the cost.

If it's just a matter of prestige for the time she'd be there, I can't really justify it... but oh it would be so nice to see her there!

Aaaggggh, decisions decisions...!

Well, you could look at it this way. If you breed her wisely, her foals might be easier to get to that level. Especially if you breed crosses like bunnies - I'm not sure how fast the individual skills board for Friesians moves.. default smiley (lol)

I've never clouded any crosses, but have clouded before. I save up clouds until I have at least 15. They're not hard to get with a bit of work default smiley ;)

I'd imagine a clouded cross will most likely remain on the top 10 board longer than a purebred. Other than your bragging rights, that might help you get on the victory rankings.

I know the current highest TB in stamina is clouded....has much lower GP than the Dark n Twisted line does and it has sat there for *weeeeeeeeks* lol. Along with the few below it as well. Clouding a cross would mean you would have free rein of the board until you or another crossbreeder with the intent comes along to snatch it. I believe some day I may cloud one of my crosses, I was tempted to with Vegas Mama but I know that the only slot available for her on the boards would be popularity or overall skills. *shakes head* I personally couldn't deal with that knowing that in a day or two she would be kicked off.....

But multiple skills is an amazing feat considering the average cross only tops out on one skill and that is if breeding is carefully executed lol
