Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

It matters what comps you do.

Like for cross country I like to train in jump and dressage then enter comps. Or for western pleasure i found that if you train in Stamina and Dressage then leave trot alone that works good too.

Gwinni- You cand o your own thing if its working for you, but if you have a designated type of competing you would like to chose then typiclly there is a specific training method we cross breeders like to use (:

I have an excelling Western Pleasure that is trained in Stamina, and Gallop and extremly low trot. She currently has 100 wins (: And for barrel racing I love to train my horses highly in Dressage or Gallop, or Stamina and Dressage (:

I've read and always thought that if you want to win comps it's best to leave Gallop, Trot and Jump training till last so train Dressage first then either Speed or Stamina and then do comps?

I usually start with Dressage then go in order of highest GP points either Speed or Stamina and try enter one of each comp till the horse starts winning do a few rides and then train in Gallop, Trot, Jump usually in the same way with whichever is highest GP wise.

Boshay, Hotaru and Mischief are the first horses I'm actually trying really hard to do well with so want to try make sure I get it right default smiley :)

Wow Notbob default smiley :o

@Gwinni you *never* want to train in stamina, it makes the comps a lot harder for the horse to get their wins. Instead train in the two skill needed for the horse to win the comps you want them to win. But always leave stamina till last otherwise the wins will come in extremely slowly. default smiley ;)
HorseLover- I train in stamina and my horses do just fine :/ Thats actually what I breed in horses is stamina

@stallion lover interesting, I've never heard of someone training in stamina like that for wins. I've always heard against it and it never works for me. Then again, you breed for stamina.
I like to train like Horselover for cross country comps and Stally for western pleasure.

Was finishing training Hotaru.

I don't really know how to choose which comps a horse will be good at, when I start putting them in comps they start winning in one or two things so I just keep going in that one or two till they get 20 wins. I've just been messing about really, but since I've set a wee goal to get a Rosette I'd like to learn the quickest way. I've been trying to breed for Speed or Dressage but mainly Speed but I don't understand all the genetics and find it quite confusing default smiley :)
