Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Oh I am not either..... I am just trying to improve my lines and see how many stars I can get in each category.
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 01:20:01
Ya. I really don't breed for stars. I breed mainly for skills. I've started comps with ImmaMoonPie. (My paint). I dunno if she has won one yet.

I haven't really yet. I just like to bring skills up. When i get bored.
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 01:28:09
You should try Freedom it is very fun. If you ever decide to I have plenty of horses who can get you started.
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 01:31:40
Maybe i will try. After i blup ImmaMoonPie that is. It's fun blupping her. She is the only one i can get right because she's purebred. I don't really blup non-purebred horses.
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 01:34:31
Why not? The crossbreds are so much easier.
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 01:35:33
I dunno. I never really had luck with my mare, Kaleigh. But my paint is so easy to blup.
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 01:41:23
I have a very good way to BLUP which makes it easy. PM me and I can tell you it.

When I bred MaidenAtMidnight, the baby will be only Friesian+Hano.
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 01:45:22
Okay. PMing now.

I have a new colt I just bred but unfortunatly I don't have any BM's to put on him default smiley xd

Kunst des Sterbens

His name means "Art of dying" in German. He also has stars in ever category. ^^

Just picked up this wonderful colt: Permanent Memory
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 08:52:55
here we go everyone, heres the mare of my anglo twins.. I posted the colt earlier but have since gone on to blup the filly of the pair, shes fully blupped & fully trained at 10 years old..

I was advised they would make great cross country horses & I have had some great success there.. will be turning the boy into a cross country comp horse as theres not a huge demand for him to be blupped now his sister is ready for breeding..

Anglo Mare

she's still waiting on some show jumping comps to run from earlier as they are stuck hopefully theres a couple more wins in that lot too.. lol

She has done fab in xc comps, I would age her out to 25 for more skills..then she will really mince them xc comps default smiley (lol)

thanx foxxxyblonde you were so right.. I had a fair bit of fun working with her..
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 09:43:50
It's such a shame people don't see how great crosses really are
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 09:46:08
lol yeah, although its certainly gotten a lot better since I first started an account, people used to buy crossbreds in the auctions just to sell them to the safe haven because they were trying to get rid of crossbreds on the game.. I haven't had that happen since the Owlympiads when it turned out that crossbreds made great comp horses..
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2010 09:52:25
I still struggle to sell crossbreds, one of the reasons I don't breed to sell anymore. I bred a great pair of twins. My friend bought one..he's been ranked no.1 for stamina on paint boards for two weeks now, totally unclouded too. But I really struggled to sell his twin!

Go back to page 113 and its there.
my BP and i decided to try crosses with our Friesians and he is an example of our first try:

Triumphant 20* X

Did we make a "mistake" gelding him? I don't usually breed to Cross Studs, but I don't know about the rest, never really took notice. I don't wana make the same mistake with him:

21* M 765.79/223.87

Any ideas if i *should* geld him? Im new to cross breeding - i have quite a few i have bought but all were mares or gedings for the most part...

I personally think you did. He would have made good money off covers and you could always use him for breeding down the line.I have a stud who breeds with all my mares
ok, so it would be best to not geld the colt then? i want to work with him later today after RL work...i know he will be about .30 shy from the highest dressage pure Friesians have at the moment...
