It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Hmmmm....just when you think you've got it all figured out....

Some of my second-stringers (who I was working just 'til their board ran out) rose up and won a couple...default smiley (o) I love how the little blighters have a mind of their own...default smiley (lol)

My darling Caoimhe has three wins on the day so far and earned herself a MA....I think we're finally hitting our groove...default smiley :-)) SJ is still a bit hairy for this stage...got a second but the competition is a bit steep so I'm avoiding entering for now...

I now have 6 horses that need less than 10 wins to finish. It was a good day in the comps today for my babies. Still have a few to go so maybe I will get a couple more close to finishing. That would be good.

Glad your girl got some wins and is showing you what she's got.

I only have two doing the SJ comps and they seem to be doing okay. Not many wins but a few.

Guess all we can do is sit and wait until they all run.

Wild North: Are your second-strings older than your first? Age does have a small factor in who wins the race (I'm guessing so we have a better chance of blupping those old howrses someone "trained wrong.") Maybe that's what's going on?

Stupid storms though... can't game the couple foals I picked up in the auctions. default smiley :p

I'm thinking of starting NIB Connies, since I spotted a fully bolded and bLUP'ed Connie that had both foundation parents. Any tips?

Sunshine515 -- Welcome to the wacky world of NIB. If you've spotted a fully blupped and bolded NIB, I'd snatch it up if you're interested in starting. The best thing to do is start to scout around for some foundation stock with good GPs and not-too-messed-up training and start from there. Obviously 100 BLUP will give you the best quality foals for your next generations. Lots of experienced folk hang about here between competitions and you'll find they're always happy to help....default smiley ;)

Jeteska -- yes, you're quite right, now that I look closer they're from my old crew that I salvaged from the auctions...I wasn't really noticing how far along they were with their training but it looks like I might have to reconsider shelving the valiant souls...default smiley ;)

What I usually do is go to the auctions and type in my horse breed and an approximation for the gp my horse has and then see what prices come up and I try to put my price around that range.

Just broke down and bought a foundie Shetland to add to my herd. My focus is Newfies, but apparently now I'm collecting foundie stallions of other breeds too... so far paint, irish hunter, friesian uni, and shetland.

Wild North - That's too funny about the BMs I'm an vet tech also & did the same thing!

LoloJean - I like your affix.

As far as the time of day to run comps goes, I find I get better results early in the morning (EST) or right around now in the pm. But in the pm I will be a bit choosy about which comps I go into. There are usually comps waiting to be run with 2 or 3 horses in them already, I'll scope out those horses & see which ones I have a good chance to beat. I'll enter my NIB horse, then try to throw in a filler so I increase my odds of winning. It seems to work pretty well, I end up winning about 50% of those races. But it is more time consuming.

This conversation is making me re-think sending my foundy friesian unicorn to Heaven. I bought her for the Achievements and she bore my required unicorn babies... and that left me unsure what to do with her. She's BLUPed and almost fully bolded (just needs gallop)-- age 23 years, 8 months. I always forget to breed at the correct time, so I'm really not interested in continuing with unicorns. Just have them for that one achievement... and have kept everyone in case another one pops up whenever the next level gets released (if I decide to pass 9, that is-- hating the idea of getting top 100 in TWO areas).

Maybe I should try to sell her instead.

I guess I'll go with that female I offered on and get her for the price as is. I'm semi-positive she's pregnant, as it says one covering and no offspring and well...there's a can't breed until date. Maybe the male's owner will reply too so I can play with my very own friesian foundie uni pair. So have to get nyx pack for my female. -hates waiting for foals-

I've just spent an exhausting session combing through the comps...the monsters seem to have settled down - Mr.706 is still there in one..it's been sitting there for ages, maybe everyone else figured out what the creature is and is avoiding him!! default smiley (lol) I agree -- mornings definitely seem to be best.

Everyone is entered for the day....now it's hurry up and wait.

Managed to pick up a few *pass* horses in the sale...cut-throat business that, isn't it? People do get feisty with the bids in the end-minutes....I"m too cheap..I'd rather buy a younger one for much less and wait it out. Still not sure if I'll keep them to *pass* myself or sell them to the maniac pass-horse-buyers near the end....default smiley (lol) Of course, the trick is to not get too attached....default smiley ;)
