The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I got home from taking my hubby out for his bday dinner and both my foundies had finished their competitions. What a great way to end the day.

My count right now is 32 females and 27 male foundation horses. I still have a long way to go but I will get there eventually.

I guess what I am doing is working my foundations and then the babies as they get born from the foundation pairings. I am also breeding first and second generations as they get done but it seems to be working. I keep a little notebook and I have a bunch of pages for each type of horse foundation female, foundation male, etc and then as the babies are born I write them down in the appropriate area and I mark who I will breed them to and the babies name once it's born.

It's ancient technology I know but it works for me and so far I haven't screwed it up lol.

I would think you could would not need that many horses to get a green stardefault smiley :( If you don't restrict yourself to only breeding foundations to foundation, 1st gen to 1st gen etc. I don't mind breeding horses that are a few generations off from each other nor do I keep track of generations. Would it make a difference if you theoretically had each foundation with 351.2 in GP? Or no since some of the low GP foundations seem to be popping out better foals.

I don't think it is necessary to have all 351.2. A lot of the old 07 and early 08 horses kick out just as great of foals as the top GPs do. I haven't paid much attention the the dispersal of the GP to each skill though so who knows default smiley *-)

The problem is that if you use horses more than once in your breeding program it gets very confusing and you run the risk of ending up with an inbred horse. If each horse is only bred to one other horse and then that baby is trained and bred to another pairs baby then you are safe because you know none of the babies are related. That's why I don't keep any babies that I'm not going to use in my breeding program so I won't get confused and use them by mistake.

I tried to go and get a horse at auctions but Forest Queen was there so I ran away because she's ferocious at those auctions lol. So I guess I won't fall off the wagon today. But maybe....tomorrow.....hehe

Yeah I use a lot of the Foundations that no one else will touch because they don't really seem to have much for GP. They still seem to really throw good babies even though their GP is lower. My first generation babies from them are around the same GP + or - 1/2 a GP point as the ones I am breeding from my 351.20 mares and studs.

Okay so I bred my two 351.20 Foundations together and got a filly.

Her GP at birth is 355.84 so she should finish games with 357.04 which is .02 away from Forest Queens Tikki baby default smiley :d She also has 105.79 IBS. So pleased with that pairing.

Harmony

Can't wait until morning to get her started.

Hello everyone! I was just over at the game play forum and I was told that someone here might be able to help me out with nib breeding. Mostly I'm looking for advice on how to go about producing the best foals and fillies and I have heard about breeding programs among several players. How does this work?

I am breeding friesians right now, they are still very young and not much skill yet. Thanks in advance for any helpdefault smiley (a)
Not sure yet she definitely won't go anywhere cause I want to make sure that Tikki's baby stays NIB but I might breed her again if I find a guy suitable of her default smiley ;)

That is good default smiley ^)

Slayer's Revenge make sure your horses are 100 BLUP before breeding. 100 BLUP means that the horse has 20 wins, top three skills completely bolded (this means you gain no skills from comps/rides/training in the top 3 skills) and that they are over 10 years old. Your horse should be perfect for breeding once 100 BLUP is reached.

Most of us try to only breed a pair together once to keep the foal and most other foals that are foaled from that pair or even one of the horses from that pair are either sold or the earlier foals if the GP and/or skills are better with the new foals.

Mostly NIBing is about going at your own pace, with your own breeds and doing it the way you like. Some people breed foundations to foundations, 1st gens to 1st gens and continue on with this trend. Others (like bluetempest said a little earlier) don't mind mixing generations default smiley :)

Anything else you would like to know just ask away default smiley ;) This forum is for helping one another default smiley :-))

I bought a cross bred mare in the private sales with the thought of using her to jumpstart my comps and then later as a pass horse but when I got her home and was putting her to bed for the night I realized that she was pregnant. So now I have a baby on the way and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. The mom is defintely inbred and so is the dad....well maybe I can use the baby once it's trained to up my EC prestige who knows.

Oh well

Slayer's Revenge ....... If I was just starting out NIBing I would get one Foundation Mare and Stallion and then train them to 100 BLUP. Once you feel comfortable with the process then you can get more and definitely as Forest Queen says go at your own speed there is not real race here just a race to make better NIB foals.

As far as training goes I have found that word weasel's forum has a great training program for BLUPping any horses. I am using it now and it really seems to work.

If you run into specific questions or need to find something to help out we are all here so feel free to pick our brains default smiley ;)

I"m not sure if anyone is going to want him or her quite honestly. The mare is inbred but not terribly well skilled. I bought her to compete with and eventually use as a pass horse. I am thinking I will probably have to send the baby to safe haven. Such a waste though.

I don't have any competing that high yet I think the highest I go is 54% so far. I have gone from 10 competing to now having 20 competing but I have completed 4 in the last week so it isn't too bad. I have two that have under 10 comps left and pretty much the rest of my trainees are babies with a few who are finishing up getting ready to compete sprinkled in.

Totaling all of them up between my Arabs and Unis I have 42 horses in training right now. Boy I love this game!! default smiley :)
