Hi guys, I still get terribly confused when trying to determine what a foal's breed will be when the parents are cross-bred, and could use some info here.

I have a potential queen who is 50% Paint and 39% Hunter. The potential sire is 37% Frie, 36% Hunter, and 19% Paint.

Which breed is the foal most likely to show, Paint or Hunter?

Nice foal Coc. default smiley ;)

Cryfenril- Maybe...paint because if you add the %s together its 69% while hunter is 75%...no I think it is hunter. It's more dominate in both than paint is. default smiley ;)

Only no star in speed. Good cross though.
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 17:02:31
Yes I noticed she only needed a star in speed if I bred her to a paint after shes BLUPed do you think I could get a speed star without loosing the other ones?
By Retired breeder, 16th May 2010 17:03:32
Cyren- It would be IH.
Thanks guys!

I got impatient and couldn't wait. Surprise, surprise - this was the result. Barely a 2% difference between breeds! She will be fun to work with that speed and dressage...

If you want to do something like that with arabs I have Gala in my Simply Crossed tab. She is either 2% or 1% something else and it should cross out after a few generations very easily.
