Anyways, I'm off to look on amazon.. It's my basic pricer default smiley (lol) also I am looking at epoxy... Kinda interested in doing a little sculpting... Not extreme, I don't think I have anything to cut head off with or anything, but manes, tails, feathers, etc.

does anybody know a wesite that sells really chep retired horse modles
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 02:19:26
Try ebay... I found another one, it had rare models (like, I think they had the grazing riding pony, normally $20-$30) for $6-7, but I don't remember what it was called!!
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 02:26:25
Ya, they have good stuff! Epoxy! i should try that!!
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 02:35:00
Yeah but it's pretty expensive... However if I do get into customizing a lot, I think I might just go ahead and buy it. Then $10 worth of something else. Then I can buy a few add-on Schleich until I reach my $40 gift card default smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 02:35:49
Ya, that would probably work. I am so bad at customizing!
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 02:58:29
Yeah me too... I need practice default smiley (lol) mainly for eyes, mine are slightly messy black dots. For my custom Arab filly I tried making white too, but she always looks like she's scared and rolling her eyes backwards, because I forgot to leave a bit of white at the back too! default smiley (lol)
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 03:04:12
Oh, whenever I customize eyes the black slips out of the eye and rolls down the face, fail.
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 13:46:21
what do you guys use to costomize? I usually just use a sharpie to make black black insted of brown.
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 13:49:15
I should try that to! I use acrylic paint but it comes out globby...default smiley :(
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 13:54:09
oh cool. I have duplicates or some so maybe i could try that
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 14:04:41

Water it down. I did that on a breyer knock off custom I did and it works great. Not blotchy at all. He's actually money faves. (I got the idea from honeyheartsC. )
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 15:49:58
Honeyhearts is awesome. I would've subscribed to her like last spring when I found her... If I had a YouTube default smiley :(

Yeah I use a sharpie pen to go around the inside of my one horses hooves so that the silver isn't inside the hoof (been doing that for a while) but it comes off. I wouldn't recommend using sharpie on a large area- it's not meant for smooth plastics. Eyes are good though, and inside of black nostrils.

If acrylics don't work out, yes, try watering them down. And you'll want to seal them so they don't chip. I however mainly do mod podge on top largely because I hate the feel of plain acrylics on something I'll be touching a lot.

I also have leftover paint from a paint your own breyer set I got. They turned out wonderfully, smooth (ish) and not so acrylic-y. I don't know if it's because they were primed, or because the paint was good, but I want to try it. I did another few coats of regular paint on the one because he was painted horribly, and now he feels normally painted....

By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 22:23:03
I think this custom is very pretty. The others are nice, too.

By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 22:26:49
Gorgeous! How do they do the different color affect that is lighter and then darker?
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 22:35:12
I'm not quite sure. You'd have to ask someone else about that.
By Retired breeder, 5th June 2015 22:39:53
My customs aren't shaded because I'm a lazy bum and can't make myself learn how to do it default smiley (lol) I wish I was a really good artist though.
