Yay, went to another town's Tractor Supply this morning and picked up some of the new horses! They had some new stock, that wasn't even on the shelves yet. I found them laying in a cart by the Schleich shelf, and the worker guy apologized for not having them put up yet, and i said, its fine lol. Got the one above that i said i wanted toodefault smiley :) Here they are:

I'm curious. I know the Schleich company is based in Germany and world wide, so my models come from some cool places. Where do all of your models come from (hint: look on the belly of the model)?

Most of mine come from China, but i have some from Germany, Portugal, Tunisia, and Romania that i know of. It would take a long time to look at all my models to see if there are other places lol.

Hanoverian Mare? She's one of my favorites. Strangely when I got her ages ago, my very young mind named her Star. I still wonder.
Here is another model:
Bay gelding with two white socks on back feet and blaze. Made 2000.

Does anyone know anything about exclusive schleich? I know they make a few each year, but I never knew where they sold them or how many they make. I recently found the 2018 exclusive pinto mare and was wondering if it was going to be worth anything later on. Does anyone know how many they will make of this painting?

Exclusive Schleich huh. I don't know the answer to your question (sorry) but i wonder how one would go about getting ahold of something like that?

I got my exclusive at the Rural King near me. They only had three and they were not any more expensive then the normal models. It even had a normal tag and an exclusive tag around its legs. default smiley :)

This is the first time I've ever seen exclusives at my local Rural King, but I've gotten some Exclusives from Toys R Us before. I'm assuming since Toys R Us is no longer in business, Schleich had to find new places to sell some of their merchandise. I bet exclusives will be showing up in other stores too. I hope you find some. default smiley :d

Sadly, I have no Rural Kings around me, and Orschelns has discontinued Schleich, and Walmart has phased them out as well, at least around me. But someday perhaps the Tractor Supply a couple towns over will get some!default smiley :d

Can someone help me name my Andalusian foal? She is the silver one from released last year, I think. The name has to start with a S, and has to have the word silver at the beginning

Sorry,i forgot to post why. I have the Andalusian set, of 17. And I wanted to have a theme for there names. The Stallion is Silver Swift, The mare it Silver Sapphire, that's why I'm so picky on the name

It doesn't quite fit the criteria of starts with silver, but I think the name Argenta would be cool. Argentum means silver in Latin, so I just added a feminine ending to it. Argentina is another way of feminizing it - sound familiar?

If you're really stuck on 'silver' being in the name, maybe: Quicksilver, Silvermane, Silvermist, Silver Lining, or just straight up Silver, like the Lone Ranger's horse.

I thought I had only two Schleichs, but turns out I have three! I found a little calf hidden in the back of my shelves, year 2010. Does anyone know if he/she is an actual breed, or just a generic calf?

I googled that and while water buffalo didn't come up, African buffalo did! So it's an African buffalo calf, thanks for setting me on the right track! Serendipitous, as I was just reading a news story about Cape/African buffalo today.

To be honest, since the other two horses were gifts (a Feya stallion and Trakehner mare), this one was probably also a gift. I can't remember exactly for what, but my grandmother liked to donate to Heifer International in the names of her grandchildren, so she might have given me the figurine of a calf to go along with the papers. I can't remember though! I have never bought any Schleich on my own though.

I did see some adult buffalo figurines when searching! Love the horns.

Makes sense lol. Ever thought about collecting Schleich?

The horns are great, I love when Schleich releases new antelope or deer, moose, or African buffalos like such. I collect the horses, farm life (cows, pets, etc.), wildlife, and sea life. One thing I've never gotten is a Schleich whale. I've never seen one in a store. Guess I'll have to search them out online.

I've narrowed it down with naming the foal. It's between Silver sunrise, Silver subset, or Silver sunshine. Which you you like better?
By Retired breeder, 31st May 2018 22:40:51
Silver sunset, not silver subset
Famousamos wrote:

I haven't, I love to look at the pretty figurines but I'm not a big collector type of person (except for American state quarters - but my excuse is those don't take up space!). Does Schleich have any orcas? Could scratch both whale and dolphin off your list in one stroke, since killer whales are more closely related to dolphins than "whale" whales!

I'm so sorry that I misunderstood your criteria, I was thinking that it was a bit strangely redundant that you wanted your names to start with Silver and an S, since if a name starts with Silver it also has to start with S anyways! But it makes sense what you meant now.

Of your names Silver Sunset sounds the best, but it's a bit of an oxymoron since sunsets, sunrises, and sunshine are gold/yellow. Poetic though!

If you'll give me a second chance I came up with some new names to make up for the other ones: Silver...
Spirit
Sensation
Shadow
Seraph
Storm
Soleil (pronounced So-Lay - but this is "sun" in French so another oxymoron!)
Song(bird)
Stardust
Skylark
