Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

The only skill set found that I thoroughly enjoyed is the Dressage Stamina Trot of my Nokota/ Criollo. There is a Classical set that I liked but I'd have to go visit Winter to find out what skills those are. Do they fair well in Western?
By Retired breeder, 8th October 2016 20:28:06
Pretty good as far as I know, I have had one or two western ones, but 95% of the time I do classical.

Would it be a good idea to cross a purebred IH with a purebred Shagya Arabian?
By Retired breeder, 8th October 2016 22:12:59

That all depends on what you would want the horse to excel in. Any cross can be a good cross.

If you have a similar cross that you can breed her too to get an IH dominant foal, I would like one please.
I don't have anything that doesn't have any of the other breeds unfortunately, sorry

plus I geld most of the crosses I do, so they aren't breed worthy default smiley xd This one, I just didn't want to waste a pass on a bolt, and I'm out of exchanges

El Diablo is BLUPed, and now I have Playing With Fire to continue with my KWPN/Walkers. Will breed back to his mom and hopefully that throws a filly to breed to Diablo.

Horsebabe91- What of a similar skill set then? It doesn't have to be a crossbreed.
I don't have studs. I geld anything I skill. So you would need to find a stud

Ashes Of Eden is still up in the rankings. #26 overall, #4 trot, #9 jumping, and #6 dressage. Also raking in the wins in breed comps. default smiley (7)
Does anyone happen to have a stallion with either of these two top 3 skill sets? GP doesn't really matter too much but if it were over 5k that'd be nice. Skills don't necessarily need to be in order as listed (but it'd be awesome if they were).

Stamina-Trot-Speed or Stamina-Jump-Gallop?

Trakehners are Gallop, Jump, Stamina if that will work?

Sorry for double post but just adding on- If you cross a GV to a Trake, you should balance out those three skills a bit more. Would you like me to try and breed a stud for you?

Does anyone have a cross where all 6 skills are pretty much equal? I keep trying with varying degrees of failure default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 9th October 2016 20:37:25

Trake/Paso is pretty even. Speed and trot are a little lower, but not by much. Check out Generation Dead in my Working tab if you want an example. Or there's a link a page or two back.
I just have to say that I love this group. I love that we aren't trying to claw our way up the GP race, and we can just breed to see what works and doesn't. Everyone is super nice and helpful, and there's honestly no pressure to be the best! Okay compliments over!! default smiley :d

Aww thank you! I have really enjoyed working all of you and it's been a pleasure to be part of something that's so relaxed and fun.

I don't know about relaxed, as cross breeding can be quite stressful sometimes(recalls lack of public GP covers for that perfect cross, calculating skill sets)default smiley (lol)
But it is quite fun and I love how helpful everyone is to each other!

I agree on the GP issue. *glaring pointedly at trot breeds and a few other select ones* It's always fun to see who comes up with something to kick you-know-what in breed or overall, who's doing what projects, etc., though.
Whoever had the theory that when you breed two crosses with 8 different exact 25% breeds together, the foal would come out whatever was last on the Dam's breed order, well, you're wrong...
