Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Just bred this Gypsy Vanner x Kwpn cross colt and his twin. I'm pretty satisfied with how they. Hmm now to decide what speciality to put them in

Looking at it's skill set it looks to me like a good all-around classical horse. You get your BLUP skills from gallop and XC, get any other wins you need from trot comps, and make equus off jump comps.

What could you breed a curly with to get a good horse for classical competitions?
Introducing my newbie..

#1 Hanoverian, pretty happy with him just wish it wasn't so hard to win jumping comps with KWPN's...

A curly's skill set is Stamina/Trot/Speed. You have a couple options depending on what you're going for. You could cross with a Peruvian Paso to get a good trot comper, and that's about it. You could also cross with a XC, Jump, or Gallop breed and get a horse that could potentially do pretty good all-around, depending on the GP of the parents. I've listed your options for those three categories and their skills (highest to lowest) to help your decision in the spoiler banner.

Does anyone happen to have a 7000+ gp 50/50 mare with no Irish hunter or nokota blood that they'd be willing to breed a foal for me from? I'm hoping to make a really nice dressage cross with this guy as the stud...so the mare will ideally have the top three skills as dressage, gallop, and then trot.

Quite happy with how Asylum is coming along. Have another Walker/KWPN (Slash Fiction) who I will BLUP once Asylum is done, then I have to BLUP my Walker girl and cross to a KWPN to hopefully get my stud to breed them to.

how would a Hanoverian GV cross turn out?
By Retired breeder, 29th September 2016 15:24:05
I couldn't find a mare that I liked to cross with my one irish stud, so I bred This colt (of course it came out a colt instead of a filly like I needed). I think hes a pretty interesting foal though, should bring up the gallop without sacrificing the trot or dressage when I cross with my stallion.
