Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

The parents are successful in the dressage comps, Looking forward to this baby
Thanks to the help of a friend, Alea Iacta Est came 32nd in the gallop Grand Prix! I am so excited about his results and hope to improve upon them soon. Next goal is to make it into the top 10.

Hi everyone, I was thinking of giving crossbreeding a try so does anyone have helpful tips for me? And also, I'd like to keep the foals marwaris, but I don't know what I should cross my marwaris with.

Check out Indiana Summer he's an Akhal Teke X Lusitano with Dressage & Jumping best skills default smiley :d

Tips: Always fully blup your horses before breeding. You'll have better babies. And don't forget that ponies exist XD I feel like that happens a lot (I do it too sometimes) but some of them have really cool skillsets.

As for breeding to Marwaris, Trakehners are a good option! You'll be able to keep the stamina and gallop up, but also use that to boost other skills if you need it! That's personally one of my favourite crosses!

I'm really enjoying the success of my recent crosses.

Here is my latest addition to my Arabian x Criollo project. Super pumped to train him up. His twin will remain in limbo for now haha c:

QH and TBs have exactly the same skill set so it should work out fine. As far as predicting the breed, foals (if they are from two purebred parents of two different breeds) will take on the sire's breed.

New test baby, please tell me what you think?

I tested out the Marwari and Trakehner cross that Starry-Eyed suggested and this is the foal I got from it with my lowest GP mare: foal Interesting, I can't wait to see what I can do as I start to increase the GP of what i'm crossing.

He looks good!! If you need high GP Trakehner covers, just let me know!

It kind of just depends what you're looking for. I usually think of what comp or discipline I'll want to target with a cross, then look at breeds that will give me nice stats in those 3 skills for that comp and calculate what the potential GP/skills of the foal will be.

or sometimes I'm not even looking to get lots of wins with a horse and just want to design a different skill set.

Here's a few ideas of crosses that were excellent compers for me if you're wanting to rack up wins:
(TBxGV)x Marwari
GVxSelle
GVxAppyxCriollo

Hello everyone default smiley :) i am interested in giving cross-breeding a try and i have a question. So a while back i stumbled upon a gypsy vanner-welsh cross in the sales and bought her, since then i had only bred her with the highest gp gypsies covers that were available and the foals had turned out pretty neat (i thought anyway) yesterday i bred that mares first foal for me with a purebred welsh cover and the foal turned out about 50/50 of each, my question is how can i continue to try to keep a rough 50/50 of each? Is there a formula for the percentages? Thanks in advance for any help! default smiley :)

Breed another 50/50 Welsh/GV (Male or female, whichever you'd need to breed more) and keep breeding them together. I've done this with my line of GV/Lusitano crosses and they're always 50/50.
Ok, thank you disco513default smiley :)
