Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I've never tried it, but here's some breeds you could play around with perhaps...

Curly: Stamina, Trot, Speed, dressage, gallop, jumping
Tennesse walker: Trot, Stamina, dressage, speed, jumping, gallop
Hackney: Trot, Stamina, dressage, speed, jumping, gallop
Russian Don Horse: jumping, stamina, dressage, gallop, speed, trot

Good luck!

A lot of people will cross KWPNs with Selles. Other jumping breeds are shetlands, Australian ponies, and morgans.

For all-arounders there's a post [url=http://www.howrse.com/member/forum/topic/1395883712-info-cross-breeders?selectedMessage=1403230371#anchor-1403230371]here[/url

For rosettes, I know a lot of people do selles and KWPNs for showjumping. A Gypsy crossed with an Akhal, Canadian, Connemara, or Arab would do well in cross country.
This could help you, all the breeds listed are the ones who have the specific top 3 skills for that comp. Just make sure you're breeding at the highest GP you can!

English:
Cross Country(Akhal-Canadian-Connemara-Gypsy-Arab)
Trot Race(Peruvian Paso)
Show Jumping(Shetland-Selle-Austrailian....KWPN, Morgan)
Dressage(Lustiano)
Gallop (Thoroughbred, quarter horse, welsh, paint, PSH, Chincoteague, Appy)

Western:
Cutting (Quarter pony-Argentinian-Shayga...fjord)
Western Pleasure (Tennessee Walker-Hackney...Icelandic...Friesian)
Reining (Lippizan...halflinger)
Trail (Nokota-Knabstrupper)
Barrel Racing (Mustang, Marwari)

Mostly just breed at as high of a GP as you can for best results for rosettes, and find some BLUPing/training schedules to make best use of your time! When in doubt, breed a "test" foal before breeding with a BMI.

Hey all! I know I've been absent, but here's the first pon with "the Destriers" affix! She's the first of a long line of Warlander crossess. Next one up from her mother is gonna be a PSHxLusitanio and then that horse is gonna breed with her offspring (gonna cross her back with a Fresian, probably her dad) and then I'm gonna sibling breed up to a powerhouse bloodline. Soo... introducing Roundtable Rival!

Also probably gonna breed these two Appy crosses back to each other, they turned out pretty nice! Demonic Heiress and Bardsong

Is anybody looking for a crossbreeding breeding partner? I'm beginning to cross breed (mainly horses for showjumping) and would love to have someone else on board default smiley ^)
Unfortunately the covers fell through...no cross for me.

Same Serp, I PM'd a team a few days ago and they haven't gotten back to me. All other breeds with the same skill set are not ideal and/or the GP is extremely low. default smiley :(
They got back to me, but apparently they are just not offering covers anymore due to inactivity or something like that. Very disappointed as it would have been a really good cross.

Starry-Eyed - He would work well. Could you send a covering to Winter Underground please?
By Retired breeder, 12th July 2016 19:47:04
September - Don't Stop Cash is beautiful. And the mare, Gypsy Jade, is lovely. In fact, when you have her blupped may I request a foal?

I quite like the Appaloosa. It's got higher dressage GP and jumping than a purebred. Depending on what its IBS was and how you skill it, you could make top 5 dressage quite easily in Appy skills. The GP of the top dressage skills Appy only has 1337, with skills of 1900 something
