Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Eeek! My two babies did me so proud today! I was hoping Metallic Sunburst would maybe get a top 200 in the reining Grand Prix, but he actually got 94th! My first top 100(maybe even 200) in the Prix! And I threw in Sizzling Sunset as well who got 172!

Just a tip for you all...if you're looking for something that will win win win i found the perfect mix. Start with a trot specialist x gallop specialist (For example I used QH x Standardbred) and then mix it with a full Brumby. Don't train up dressage on this horse, just trot & gallop then enter it in Dressage competitions and it will be fab. I did it with this mare and it's been a life saver for promos and events. The skills/GP may not be the highest, but 400 wins is worth it.

So I have three projects going right now:
-Winds, The one who I just finished and am working on breeding now
-Qucksilver, who I meant to finish before Winds
-and a unnamed filly from Winds
I just need to figure out what to do with their twins now because all of them were born as twins.

So i've bred two stallions today..
The first is an Arab x Criollo , i've had success with breeding one before. It's Stamina maxed at 2200 and dressage at 1800, which is quite cool. I'll probably keep him for coverings and competitions for a bit before I sell him.

The other is a bay Lippizan x Paso x KWPN. The other breeds mixed in have allowed for a higher speed and jumping than usual, at the cost of a lower stamina and gallop. I thought he'd develop more skills than he has and i'm a little disappointed and will probably sell soon.

I have one more to breed hopefully either today or tomorrow.. and hoping for a mare as i'm running short!

Its been so long since I have played howrse (since about 5000GP)
I really want a nice all around horse. Anyone have suggestions? My memory of horses and their skills is pretty rusty, along with the whole crossbreeding method

I4Horses-
That's what I've been thinking. Any Ideas on what breed?

As an idea, you could breed with any of these (skills best to worst):
Hanoverian: Jumping, speed, gallop, dressage, stamina, trot
Newfoundland Pony: Jumping, speed, gallop, dressage, stamina, trot
Holsteiner: jumping, gallop, dressage, stamina, speed, trot

You'd end up with a horse that could get into some higher kitty/difficulty Gallop and showjumping comps, and be able to get easy wins in trot and cross country.

If you do want something trotty for dressage, Lustis are your best bet there.
Lustiano: Dressage, Trot, Gallop, jumping, stamina, speed

I've gotten some good all-around western horses by crossing a Mustang with a Gallop-comp breed:
Thoroughbred: Gallop, speed, dressage, stamina, jumping, trot
Quarter Horse: Gallop, dressage, speed, jumping, stamina, trot
Welsh: Gallop, dressage, speed, jumping, stamina, trot
Paint Horse: Speed, dressage, gallop, stamina, jumping, trot
Purebred Spanish Horse: Speed, dressage, gallop, stamina, jumping, trot
Chincoteague Pony: speed, gallop, dressage, stamina, jumping, trot
Appaloosa: Speed, gallop, dressage, jumping, stamina, trot

Or some good classical all-arounders with a gallop-comp breed and a showjumping breed:
Shetland: Jumping, speed, dressage, stamina, gallop, trot
Selle Français: jumping, speed, dressage, stamina, gallop, trot
Australian Pony: jumping, speed, dressage, gallop, stamina, trot
Morgan: Dressage, jumping, speed, stamina, trot, gallop
KWPN: dressage, jumping, speed, gallop, trot, stamina

The beautiful thing about crossing is you can do basically whatever you want with it. What do you want to go for? Rosettes? All-arounders? Classical? Western?

@RunNRide25

I am not completely sure. Probably rosette winners or all arounders. I tried a bit of cross breeding when I first joined with out knowing what I was doing. Yeah...that didn't end well.
