Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

You could still try to get wins in trot or jump if you wanted to. Most of my horses are never eligible for rookie comps and most get their wins quite easilydefault smiley (y)

As for the cover, if I were to breed her I would base my decision on whether I wanted to up gallop or speed in the foal. If I wanted higher gallop, go for a TB, if speed, then an Appy.
However, if you're not wanting to lose out on stamina and would like to increase dressage, you could go with a PSH. Their stamina is a little over 1000, their speed nearly rivals the Appy, and they have better dressage than a TB or Appy. They only lack in gallop a little bit

I want to show off my newest cross but I don't want to ruin the surprise. Maybe I'll just wait until he's completely blupped. Unless... you ask nicely d:

Okay, then don't show us. -shrugs-

Do whatever you want.

He took longer than I had hoped for but he's almost done now. Just waiting on a couple dozen comps to run. Here he is -

Winter Underground

A big thank you to the Silhouette team for the cover it took to produce him ^_^

You all breed such GREAT crosses!! I love to look through posts here to see them. I myself prefer crosses over pure most of the time. I have been crossbreeding almost since I started playing. If anyone wants to look through my crosses and would like a cover let me know. I rarely geld anything. They are under my other horses tab (currently using for comps) and the cross my heart tab (most of these are older). Some have even won Rosettes.

Winter Underground is currently within the top 50 for his breed in two areas and just under the top 50 in another.

Ranked 17th in Speed
Ranked 38th in Gallop
Ranked 54th in Stamina(?)

And, he's 1st in Popularity!
Guys, my wari/appy got skills.

It's been a long time. I did this little test filly today as her Mommy has over 450 wins in Trot and I wondered what her offspring would do.

Are any Trot breeders here interested in her as a little project? My SHIELD tab is full to the brim and I'd have no time to BLUP her.

Guys. What should I breed Winter to? Should I try improving on his Speed? And if so, what are the best speed breeds?

It depends on what comp or skill sets you want his offspring to have. And if you decide to improve on speed Appys and PSH have good speed

I'm not sure what to cross with this foal. I'd like to keep the stamina low and preferably the trot too, but improve either gallop, speed, jumping, or dressage. Any ideas?

If your main goal is to keep stamina and trot low, then you have plenty of options available to you. Just don't breed with horses that have stamina and trot as their top skills, which would be Walkers, Pasos, hackneys etc.

Gallop or show jump specialists would be your easiest bet to improve the skills you're looking for: Appaloosas, Quarters, Selles, Australian Ponies etc. Check out the breed directories to see the top skills of each breed. Or, when looking for public coverings, just play with entering numbers in the GP stats filter until you find what you're looking for(that would take longer though)

I want to breed an Appy x TB. Will the top Appy team give out coverings to TB mares?

What breeds have Stamina Speed and Gallop as their top skills? With speed being the highest?

I would suggest going through the breed directories and writing down the skill order for each breed, which is what I did. That way you have a handy dandy reference sheet when planning a cross.
I'd also suggest making a chart with the 3 skills needed for each competition, and the breeds that have those three skills as their top 3, no matter the order. That makes for even easier referencing. I probably use my guides more than most people use their cell phonesdefault smiley (lol)
(I think someone has posted breed skill guides in this forum several times and fairly recently, so you might find one pre-made if you look within the last dozen pages or so)

Stamina, speed and gallop are needed for barrel comps, so you'd want to look at your barrel specialists which are Mustangs and Marwaris.
