Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

How do you determine what breed a crossbred foal will be when it's parents aren't purebreds? I know in a cross of 2 purebreds, the foal will take after the sire's breed, but I've been breeding 50/50 crosses with other 50/50s and can't figure out how the breed of the foals are determined.

For instance: this girl

Why is she a KWPN too? Shouldn't she take her sire's breed, and be a QP?

I *think* in that case it takes the first breed listed under the sire's Genetics. So since the filly's sire has KWPN listed before QP, the mare is KWPN.

Either that or it's the second breed listed in the dam's genetics, but I'm pretty sure it still goes with the sire.

Yep, in a 25/25/25/25 cross, the foal should take the breed of the sire's dam(paternal grand dam). This also seems to apply when crossing two 50/50 crosses of the same breeds. They are treated as a 25/25/25/25 cross.
The fun thing about my all breed project is that I'm becoming more versed at breed determinationdefault smiley 8-)

EVERY time, when you have 4 different 25% breeds that will be in one foal (two 50/50 crosses of different breeds) the foal will take the breed listed SECOND on the Sire's Genetics tab. This holds true 100% of the time, every time. This breed is USUALLY t he Sire's mother's breed, but NOT always. So it's very important to check the breed order of the colt before blupping and/or breeding him. So you know which breed the foal will come out.

I have bred over 30 4-breed crosses of all different breeds and horses, and this is the rule that the game programming follows.

Number one Friesan stamdefault smiley ^)

Everyone's crosses are looking really good!

Just wondering, has anyone tried to make a cross where the three best skills are completely different from a purebred of the dominant breed? For example, a crossed KWPN with a skillset of Stamina, Trot, Gallop?
Hey ko ko!!! Finally got around to skilling her!! the girl I bought from you a while back.

This must not apply to breeding two 50/50 crosses that are the same breeds (so only 2 different breeds), because this girl's sire's second listed breed is QP and she turned out a KWPN. She did however take on her sire's dam's breed.

I don't typically pay attention to breed order listing in the genetics for even crosses because I've personally never found a pattern to it. I have this fjord cross that is a 25/25/25/25 and his dominant fjord breed is listed last. Whereas this Icelandic cross has Icelandic listed third. If someone has found a definite working to how breed order is laid out in even crosses I'm curious to see how it's supposed to work.

As for the way your foal turned out, a few weeks ago another player posted a 50/50 foal whose parents had the same 50/50 cross. I think it was Arabian/Thoroughbred? and the foal turned out to be a Thoroughbred because the sire's dam was a Thoroughbred. That's where I discovered that 50/50 cross born from two 50/50 parents of the same breeds could/would be treated as a 25/25/25/25 cross. Which makes sense from a programming standpoint after I thought about.

Yes, that's why I specified 25% of 4 different breeds.

Both of your horses follow the rule I posted. Their sire's both have the breed the foal turned out listed second on the genetics tab.

Also, I have like 6-7 mares collecting dust I'd like to retire to a pass horse, but they can still have 1-2 foals. I've linked them here before but that didn't help. So, most are TB crosses. Just lemme knowdefault smiley :)

I think I found my ideal cross match. Maybe in the future there will be even some rosettes.
I plan to mix Shetland/ Fjord and Knab/Mustang too.

Nice!

Made a gypsy vanner cross called Titan. He has a very high GP and will have high skills when he's fully blupped and trained but I can't help but feel that he's going to be a weakling when it comes to getting competition wins. I might end up selling him, who knows, but hey-ho, he was my little experiment having never bred vanners before. I think I'll finish his training and see what the lil' guy can do ^^
I have an MA-ed Crio mare that is 6183.33 GP that is available for breeding if anyone wants a foal from her. I can cover with a top GP Paint stallion if you'd like to take the Stamina ranking for Paints (beaching Stamina).
