Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Ah, ok thanks bibbs, I kind of wondered about that then someone told me that it was are for that to happen(???) but thanks for clearing it up.

Are you wanting to cross a purebred Gypsy Vanner with Gypsy, or breed Gypsy to Gypsy's Dream?

I did some calculations of the second option and your stats are gonna roughly look like this:
stamina: 864.41
speed: 1004.575
dressage: 1184.2
gallop: 1192.78
trot: 540.995
jump: 984.865
So you can try using that to determine whether you want to do that cross or not, depending on what you're wanting to do with the foal?

Not anything that's recent but I can make you one. You'll have to talk to the PSH team if you want an above sales GP cover for one of my Paint mares (I'm on the #1 Paint team and we're crossbreeding friendly default smiley ;) ).

@equestrienne

I do miss those amazing compers they were fabulous.

We were hoping to repeat a cross taking another prix with mustang crosses since risen switched breeds , but if not I always love dabbling and making glorious little minions of evil deeds default smiley xd.

With preprod open I may try him there first and do that >:I
then see about taking starry's advice and breed to one of those and see where that turns out before doing it here, oh how I love to abuse preprod.

Arizona Just had this girl at 11:54 am. (central daylight time, USA) Also, any ideas on competitions in the future? I know both KWPNs and Canadians have good stats in dressage.

You could probably get easy blup wins in stamina. Also- Just a word of advice in general for the future: It's always better to train and fully blup your horses before breeding. You'll get better babies that way.

I finally did it.. I finally bred my first 6000+ GP Marwari cross a pretty little palmino colt

Thanks! When I'm done with his sis I'm gonna breed her to a Trake just to see if the baby will come out a Trake. If it doesn't, then I'll be working with their mother again.

You should get a Trake foal with that. Someone in this thread posted breed determination formulas once, and it was something like add the breed together that the foal will have then divide by two. In Tobio's case do 3.3+100(assuming you're using a purebred?)/2=51.6.

The Thoroughbred in it would just be 60/2 since you're not adding more Thoroughbred which comes to 30. Most of the time, depending on the other percentages involved, this just gives a rough estimate, but as long as the final foal's breed percentages aren't too close together, then I can figure out if I'm getting the breed i want

Ah sweet! Yeah, I will be using a pure Trake. I might breed both mares anyway, just to see how differently the babies come out~

Leave stamina and trot untrained. Do breed only trot races and xc comps.

I'm planning a secret project, to be revealed later, and therefore anyone with a nice, high GP Appaloosa mare could contact me?

How do you think a Treke thrown in the mix with Bound for Glory would do? I am trying to decide what would give me the best foal for comps. I am working on BLUPping his half sister Glory of Fire but I don't think she is going to throw as good as I am looking for. But will try with her as well to see what comes of the foal.

I'm just starting to get into crossbreeding so I don't know what I'm doing yet. This is my newest foal. I'm pretty happy with her.
[url=http://www.howrse.com/elevage/chevaux/cheval?id=48013266&message=profilOK]New foal.. I was interested on how he'd turn out, and it's actually okay. Not sure what to add in next... maybe I could cross with a low GP breed to keep the Gp up. That;d work.

Does anyone know how many breeds you can have in one horse and have them show up in genetics stats? Cos I'm currently breeding 25% crossbreds and want to know how far I can go down!
