Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Oh cool. I think I will see how that cross will turn out.

Hey all,

Would there be any interest in a spreadsheet that can approximate the GP for each skill given the GP of the horse and its ancestry? I just made one that is accurate to < 10% error for any particular cross, though the more breeds the horse is made of the sketchier it gets.

It can also calculate about what a foal will be like given the GPs of the parents and what combination of breeds they are

This would not be too hard to do on your own, I suppose, but since I already did it...

I think this could really help take the guesswork out of which breeds to put together to make a certain kind of horse.

If you want, you can also just message me links to the potential sire and dam and I'll calculate the foal for you! (Though it might take me a day or two to reply)

very nice! congrats
I don't normally do Beach rides, but I think I am going to do it for Templar, and Lil' Miss Sunshine. If my calculations are correct, they should be bummed to #1 and #2 in the Arabian gallop! ^^

I wish I was not out of AP, though... default smiley :(

Timberwolf just unintentionally became my first GP 5-way. The skill set isn't fantastic for a Gypsy Vanner, but considering I only bred his parents for funzzies, I still think he's cool!

he is cool, bibbs.

I am in search of a decent gp appy stallion to add to my herd. so i can cross with him as well
By Retired breeder, 29th April 2016 16:04:52
ooo just found me an appy colt. Would have rathered over 6000gp but over 5500 is pretty good to start
By Retired breeder, 29th April 2016 16:07:14
Zino

here he is and turns out he is a 5 way cross default smiley :d
By Retired breeder, 29th April 2016 16:07:46
any idea what to breed him to to bring all the skills up over a 1000?

Thanks LilOne!
I saw quite a few Appaloosa studs in the sales with around 5900GP, but they were quite expensive....
What I've done in the past if I can't get my hands on a higher GP breed for a lower price is to buy the highest I can get, then breed it to another purebred in the public coverings. Only works if the numbers pan out and the GP in covers is as high or higher than sales, but sometimes it works

@bibbs I think I found a better deal I got a 5 way cross with an appy colt for 8k and over 5500 gp. all but two of the skills show over 1000. now gotta figure out what to breed to to get the rest up over 1000

Do you mean the actual skills of the future foal when its trained, or the GP of each skill over 1000?
If you want the GP all over 1000 then you'd have to breed it to another crossbreed of some sort as a purebred wouldn't be balanced enough to give you that. You'd likely end up losing one stat in order to bring up something else, I'm thinking

I'm not sure if it is possible to get all skills to have GP over 1000 at this point... I could be wrong though.

In love with this cross of mine. Most successful one yet. So proud of my lil' baby, haha! Intend to put a p.stone on here before she hits 25 and keep going with her comps ~♥

OK well any ideas as to what would be good to cross with him? Even if I can't get the GP skills all around above 1000?

12 wins with Bound for Glory and he is only 8 years old. Proud of my boy.

Spent all these Ap's to finish her because I thought she would take top Canadian only to realize I miscalculated somethingdefault smiley (d) Oh well, she'll be a decent broodmare + comp horse. I have 150 comps waiting to run on herdefault smiley (lol)
Lil' Miss Sunshine and Templar's new twin Foals!

Also, Lil' Miss Sunshine will be ranked #1 in Arabian Gallop tomorrow, and she is not even finished with her Beach Rides yet!
