Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Any ideas on what to cross this mare with to boost speed a bit but keep dressage and jumping high?

You could try Hanoverians!

Also, I don't know if anyone can answer this, but do you find that the GP of your parents effects the skill ratios of the foals? Obviously if effects GP, but for example if you cross a high GP Hano with a foundation TB, will the skill set be more like that of the Hano, or will it just be an aproximate average of both breeds, regardless of the parental GP?

In my experience more of an approximate average, but since I typically breed high GP I'd hold out on a second opinion first, just to be sure. Perhaps mine were flukes or silly memories default smiley (y)

Hey all! I've recently got back from a rather long hiatus, and I see the GP's have climbed drastically so I need to step my game up default smiley xd

I was wondering if there was any updated foal games? Or if we're all still using the same one. Im guessing there is an updated version?

And also, anyone have a high GP cross for sale? Equus only please default smiley ^) My poor horses are out of date default smiley :s

Thanks in advance!! default smiley (l)

Check out Dr. Zigs forum. And I have a vanner thoroughbred cross Colt I can sell that is 6100.20 gp

There are a few versions out there. I've got some in my forum that are pretty different (but I think easier lol) than other versions.

And there's probably lots of high GP crossbreds in the sales for equus!

OK now to ask in the correct forum default smiley :p looking at Black Stallion IBS would it be worth building from him?

If you're just going to be blupping him and then breeding him on, then yes, since the only things that matter in breeding are GP and blup.

Will he be capable of producing higher IBS foals if I work on a breeding line with him? I know the first foals wouldn't be much higher than him but if I kept the line going from foal to foal or with each new generation would I be able to get up to a high IBS?

What do you mean? If you'd teared him, then he would have higher IBS. If you tear his babies, they will have higher IBS than unteared.

I mean, maximum IBS you can get does go up with higher GP, if that's what you're asking?

Was wondering if IBS would go up with each generation even if not teared. Or if would always be around 1200 unless teared

It will go up if not teared, but it might go up slowly, and because of the random factor you might not see a difference for a while.

Sherwood2, I messaged you.

I might try my shelty cross with him as well. How do you all think that would turn out?

Oh, do you have a link to that particular cross? I've wondered how one would look. Looking at the number on my spreadsheet just isn't the same as seeing an actual horse's stats

Hmm just looked at shelties stats she only has 456 IBS. I wonder if it would drop the skills too much?

IBS doesn't effect the skills of future generations. Only things that effect those are GP and BLUP at the time of the covering.
