Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

It's been a good minute and it looks like we have some new breeders. I'll share a list I have of horses that you can all more or less cross for:

Cross List

If there's any questions, feel free to shoot me a message. I'm essentially bored until my husband comes home and I'm procrastinating in getting groceries for the week.

What do you guys think of an Akhal-Teke/Fjord Horse cross? Akhal-Teke sire, Fjord horse dam.
By Retired breeder, 24th March 2016 20:49:12

I'm not really familiar with Fjords, or their skillset. But Teke's a good once you can find a good sire
By Retired breeder, 24th March 2016 20:53:09
Okay, thanks @Liza! I pretty sure I found a good sire, so we'll see how this foal turns out!

It really depends on what you want. You've got a nice, pretty rounded skillset, so anything really would be good. You just have to decide which skill to focus on~

That sounds pretty good. You would most likely get a horse with high stamina, speed, and dressage, and then the Teke will also raise the jump.

Looks good~

However, a word of advice- In the future, you'll get better foals if you wait until your mare has 100 BLUP (or at the very least positive BLUP), and you only pick coverings from stallions with 100 BLUP.

Oh, that is an awfully low trot. O.O Nice stamina and speed though.
By Retired breeder, 24th March 2016 21:07:46
Yeah, it's really worth waiting until parents are BLUP'd you'll get high skills and better GP

Not surprising, since Fjords and Tekes both have low trot. Tekes in particular.

I suppose. I usually don't breed either Tekes or Fjords, I'm used to KWPN or Marwari, maybe TB and SF.
By Retired breeder, 24th March 2016 21:17:56
Okay! Thanks for the advice!
I needed a little project, as I'm on break, and I'm too lazy to BLUP her all the way before breeding. I'm working on her training right now, then rebreeding her to a different stally of a different breed.

I'm disappointed with this one CajunFusion Everything is much lower than I expected.

Well, you bred 2 breeds that have opposite skills, so that is to be expected. At least most of the skills are relatively well-rounded (nothing massively low).

I've bread Standardbred to an Mustang before and got great results, I guess that TBXPaso is just a live and learn from my mistakes.
By Retired breeder, 24th March 2016 21:50:29

You can roughly predict your outcome by averaging the GP of sire and dam in each skill. In other words, if you breed a horse with 1000 GP dressage and a horse with 800 GP dressage, the foal will roughly end up with 900 (and probably a tad higher.) Breeding together a horse with really high trot and really low trot will give you mediocre trot.
By Retired breeder, 24th March 2016 21:54:36
Yeah, I think I'll stick with my KWPNs and Marwaris. default smiley xd

Does anyone have good xbreed stallion 100 BULP, 5700Gp and no more than 50% of any one breed except TW, I need a cover.
Hey all, I picked up a pure Vanner stud (top GP) if anyone wants/needs a cover. 6001 GP and 100 blup. Just shoot me a PM if you want one, he's going to be a stud for a while.

I am a little stuck on what to mix my Marwaris with. I have a top GP mare but I am not sure what to mix her with. I want to have higher speed stamina and gallop though.

Mustang, maybe?
