Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

when dealing with 4 way cross's the breed is suppose to take the fathers mothers breed. BUT it doesn't always work out that way.

a typical 4 way cross should be

25
25
25
25

but the howrse servers can sometimes actually see

25.1
25
25
25

or something like that.

a hidden percentage amount that we can not see in the game but the computer can.

That is why a 4 way doesn't always come out the way you want.

The best thing I have found for this is to breed up a 2 way stallion cross you want to use. Breed it at 2.6 years of age to the mare you want. If the test foal turns out the breed you want that is great. The stallion will always throw those foals.

if the stallion throws the breed you do NOT want then don't bother with that 2 way any more. He will always throw the breed you don't want and you need to start over with a possible new mare of the breed you want and most especially a new stallion. The Cross stallion you used the first time if you breed it to the same mare you already have resulting in the same cross you tried at 2.6 will throw the same way.

Well it did with me when I did it once.

so now I more or less will blup the mare I plan on using then do the stallion breeding the stallion at 2.6 to make sure I get what I want. IF I do then I finish blupping the stallion and breed good foals.

saves a bunch of time and BM items if you do testers that way cause if it doesn't throw the breed you want you won't want to work that stallion.

Hope that isn't confusing for you.

Shiannes, I sent the covering. If you need it, I can also help with the skilling.

okay your up to 19 wins. I'm not going to use up any more aging points trying to get your horse that final win. I'm sure you can get something in dressage, trot, gallop, Sj or CC for it.

I still have my own horse to work.

Should I go western or classical with my tb/fry? And should I bolt her top 3 skills or try and get her 20 wins first?
By Retired breeder, 17th March 2012 16:27:05
i just did my first cross breed *i didnt mean to i wanted a quarter horse and forgot to select that* so i got a tbxQH so im happy it was 1300+Gp and 8something *'s pm me if you wanna buy him
What are her top 3 skills? My TB/Fry did surprisingly well in western pleasure/reining comps. Get dressage and stamina(I think) then enter reining until all gains are got and then train gallop, then do the same in western pleasure/trot

Sunshine why did you post in my forum that my foal games didn't work?

quote

"
I've tried a whole bunch of foal games schedule and *none* of them worked, so I tried just doing it without following any schedule, and it worked!

"

end quote?

The second set of foal games I have in there work every time. I've used them for months with no issues at all. Unless doing a pony breed then you just have to cut down on the food a bit but not much.
