Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Ohh I just got a great Friesian mare I might have to try a PSH or Paint!
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2012 04:13:31
@sroseys I have a great PSH stud if you would like to have a covering! his name is Ambercrombie
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2012 04:21:40
Well here is the foal: We found Love I really wish I had some Tears to use on her because it would have just set her over the edge but I love her. I think I will try a Fry/Hano and then breed it to a PSH so that I can also get the jump up.
Do you guys think she would hit the top ten in anything on the ranking boards?

If trained to full potential, without WOY or clouding, she will make #7 for elite Traks. #7 in Stamina. #12 for Gallop. #10 for Trot. #6 for Jumping. #12 for Dressage. This is based on her being in an E.C. with 54 E. lessons.

megawifey; I'd suggest a fry/hano cross, I personally love how the stars are almost evenly distributed default smiley :)

Well this little girl will soon be skilled up for the boards! I'm very happy with the way she turned out, I was a little skeptical at using a Marwari for crossing but its worked quite well!
Thanks to lolita43 for the covering default smiley :)

Just take out the star default smiley ;)
Thanks Rayday how do you do it? So do you guys think i should train her to full potential or just blup her and breed her?

This is a copy of the message I was sent by another player when i asked the same thing. I hope it helps you how it helped me. I can't remember the name of the player who helped me, but this is a copy of the message I saved:

To get an idea of finished skills, add together any inborn skills in a given skill and the genetic potential for that skill. If you plan on using a skilly pet, add 10 to each skill, and if you plan on beaching a skill add 2.5% of the total GP (don't forget 1.2 from foal games).

And then look at the skill gain in top two skills for the EC the horse is in. Multiply that number by 138 without WoY, and by 274 if you have WoY on the horse.

To give an example, with numbers from a horse(an RDH cross) I just did this with, using dressage as the target skill:

total GP 979.60

GP in dressage 219.07
ibs in dressage 64.94
no skilly pet for this horse 0
beach for dressage (979.60x.025) 24.49
in 57 e EC (.246) no WoY (138) 33.948

Added these together to get a total projected dressage skill of 342.45 Dressage for this horse at 25, not high enough for what I want him for.

To figure the horse's total skills
take all ibs, add it to total GP with foal games gain, add 60 if using skilly pet, add for lessons for top two skills (138 times EC gain without WoY, 274 with WoY), and if you plan on clouding, multiply EC gain by 80 for top two skills (you add each set of lesson gain in twice, once for the top skill, and once for the second highest GP skill).

I'll sometimes crunch these numbers to figure if i want to cloud a horse, it's useful for making boards and for Grand Prix horses, but optional if you're not doing these.

If you train her to her full potential she could make several boards, but it depends on what you want from her.

oh my goodness I logged in to my account just to check my mail and I got this.

You have approved the idea, Have ability to NOT show Rookie comps..
This has been accepted. You can now vote for this idea!

I was like that is very odd to get in the mail after posting an idea.

Then I realized OMG my idea is in the voting section now.

I've never had an idea approved before and I had to run off and check the forum to see if that meant what I thought it meant.

That is so cool.

I hope my idea actually gets into the game. That will really be a cool accomplishment.

It would be Xello! What do think my horse will do Rayday? Sorry to ask i am just really bad at math.
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2012 05:15:52
I don't doubt that it will Xellossnut! It's surprising that they haven't already put such a measure in place default smiley :p
She should make 1,763.468 skills if she's in 54 E. lessons and isn't clouded or given a WOY.

Thanks! That is great! I can't wait to start showing her! I will cloud her and hopefully give her a WoY to help out.
Can I get some feedback on Emergency please?

Thanks Rayday i think i am going to blup her and breed her to possibly get a horse that will hopefully place even higher on the boards.

Xello- that's great! I love the idea by the way.

Would I be able to get someone to verify my calculations please?
If this filly is boarded in a 58eq EC (0.247 gain) and is equipped with WoY and fully clouded, will she reach roughly 1858.466 skills overall?
